First of all, I love Tig Notaro so much. I have this belief that there are actors who simply become more themselves in roles, amd she is one of them.

Though there has been a lot of Starfleet Academy bashing, I've found it funny and enjoyable.

After watching the latest episode, I turned to my husband and said "I just love how GAY everything is." He agreed saying, "It makes sense. Once you get to acceptance of interspecies relationships, who cares what gender your partner(s) is."

In the show Jett was speaking to a cadet, he was looking for messages from his family. In a poignant moment, she gently said "If you have to chase down a message, then it's not for you." At this point Cadet Master Lura Thok (Gina Yashere) enters and asks if Renonis going to miss dinner again after she promised. Reno offers to make reservations wherever Thok would like to eat and then makes a very Tig quip about French-Klingon fusion and how nice it is.

Then she delivers on of the best lines so far:

"I left a starship on the edge of creation to be with her."

I love so many things about this. She just leaves it at that. She doesn't beat the horse. She's just dropped two diamonds of wisdom on this kid. That you show up for the people you love, and that if you're chasing the attention, it's not really yours.

ECLIPSE 2024

I was in the path of totality, but we got this disgusting cloud cover. It was VERY neat though. My cousin and his friends brought their dogs and seeing them go nuts was mind blowing. The birds were going in circles. The cicadas shut up and the crickets woke up. This inspired me to want to buy a telescope. Any recommendations for a noob on a budget?

There’s a good chance that stormtrooper armor is made of literal poo-doo. I mean genuine, 100% organic-made human-and-nonhuman waste. 

Why do I say that?

Because it’s generally assumed to be made of plastoid--which is obviously Space-Plastic. Plastic is made from gas and oils.

Gas is, of course, a byproduct of human excrement. Oils are fairly easy to acquire, so you can mix them with gas produced from human waste. But of course you ask: “Why? Why would it HAVE to be?”

Well, because Coruscant is a planet of trillions of people, and it’s all one city. That means they have to import food, like any city, from rural and suburban planets in the same or neighboring star systems (need more lore about that, please). Not just a little bit of food, either: billions of tons of food a day. That means billions of tons of biomass are constantly being added to the planet on a daily basis. The food is consumed by humans and aliens, and of course, has to go somewhere. They don’t fly into space to use the bathroom, and while I’m sure there are Septic Ships (need more lore about that, please!), the volume of ships that would be required to do that would also be demanding.

So, what do you do with the poo-doo?

You send it to the industrial districts. 

The industrial districts take the gas from the waste and mix it with oils also delivered by the ships that were bringing food--all your vegetables, and a bunch of vegetable oils. These get refined into polymers(and don’t you complain about efficiency, this is Star Wars, they made it efficient), which get turned into plastoid, which gets molded into armor, which gets put onto the stormtroopers all across the galaxy.

“Junk armor”, indeed! :)
