I adore your kafhime comic SO much and I. Admittedly do not play honkai star rail. yet I am so invested in this delicious dynamic between two dysfunctional women, and a werewolf AU on top of it? perfect.
AAAAAA thank you so much for your kind words 🥺
Honestly? I consider it one of the highest compliments ever when someone outside of a certain fandom gets invested in characters because of my art 😂❤️🥺
LETS GO DYSFUNCTIONAL WOMEN!!!
Do you want to know something funny? I was aready planning it to be a werewolf au, when a few updates into my comic, a new patch dropped in HSR with… you guessed it. SPACE WEREWOLVES. It was so funny to me. 😭😂
@elizbeth-rose
WE ALSO THOGUHT OF ALL THAT but ended up going with it's a 28 day cycle that syncs up to your pack and no it's not a metaphor for anything at all clearly
Though, if they were to go planet side long enough it would likely sync up to the moon phases there.
If there were multiple moons... it'd probably go by the largest (provides the most tidal pull), or maybe when the most of them are in phase.
magic ~*~*~*~*
Space werewolves.
Skywalkers as a family of born werewolves and the whatnot and everyone is just like...well, to be honest it’s the least weird thing about that family.
Everyone knows, but don’t talk about it, and for whatever reason never connect Leia with all the space werewolfism?
But then there’s an incident with some political thing and suddenly there’s a werewolf ripping through the baddies before anyone can react?
#205 The Moon
The moon: It’s always out there, always watching.
Ever since the first person noticed it so many years ago the moon has occupied a place of majesty in the collective consciousness. At first it was the source of great mystery: What is its purpose? How can we get there? Is it a Left Twix or Right Twix person? Then, when we finally got there and discovered that it was just a giant rock and not the largest ball of cheese ever as one scientist had very loudly hypothesized at very public gatherings very many times it became the stage for many space age science fiction stories. So it only makes sense that once superheroes arrived on the scene the moon would take center stage in many of their lives and adventures.
Now, obviously our moon isn’t the only moon in the galaxy. Not by a long shot. It isn’t even our only moon. We actually have two, the one that we all know about is just called “Moon” because I guess it was too cool for a real name, and the other one is called “Floon.” Floon is an invisible moon because Floon isn’t as starved for attention as its twin. It prefers to stay unseen, operating behind the scenes. While Moon controls the Earth’s ocean’s tides and waves, Floon controls the Earth’s lava tides and waves. Every second you’re not being immolated by lava is a second you should be thanking Floon.
In terms of other planets, Jupiter, as we’ve discussed has far too many moons. More moons than it could ever reasonably need. It just keeps collecting moons. As you read that sentence it probably picked up two or three more. It’s getting a bit out of hand. You don’t need so many moons Jupiter, you have a problem. They’re not even giving them names anymore because there are just too many. As you may recall, one of them (S/2003 J23) is home to space werewolves and another one (which I kid you not is straight up named Kale) is home to a tribe of space vegans. Across the galaxy moons have been colonized by peoples and creatures who don’t quite have enough followers to take over a planet but are far too self-important and/or smelly to just occupy real estate on a populated planet.
Earth’s Moon is also home to a medley of different life forms (Floon prefers to be lifeless, Floon doesn’t need your love). The Moon-Men (And Women But Alliteration Y’know?) for example, are a bunch of Earth people who convinced themselves that going to the moon would net them some sweet super powers so they built a rocket ship in a field and by some miracle everything worked perfectly and they actually did get some wicked sweet powers from it but alas it was just a one-time offer on moon powers and everybody who went after them just got some cool rocks which objectively aren’t even really all that cool they’re just cool because they came from the moon. (Breathe.) Aside from them there are some scattered rock monsters (more like rock moonsters) and alien tourists and a couple of giant cheese monsters that that one scientist from before unleashed in an effort to save some face (he saved zero face). In terms of superheroes, many teams set up their official headquarters on the moon in order to keep an eye on the Earth. Some of them are even just requisitioned and repurposed supervillain moon lairs. If there’s one group of people you don’t want to own real estate on the moon, it’s supervillains. What with the moon being in giant-laser-firing distance from Earth, which is where we live. With these space-bases, superheroes can get an advanced warning when rogue asteroids or giant alien armadas start flying towards Earth. In past invasions, those extra few hours have made all the difference, so thanks Moon. (Floon prefers not to play a role in saving Earth from destruction, Floon saves the Earth from a magma-filled destruction every second of every day.)
Due to these space bases (at last count there were four, sometimes they do house swaps) many superheroes have or will go to the moon at some point or another. Going to the moon can be very exhilarating for first timers so we’ve compiled this handy checklist for you to make sure you’re all set blast off:
If you can’t breathe in space make sure you bring some sort of space suit, many superheroes have space suits that resemble their regular costumes, or at least have their personal insignia pictured prominently.
If you’re not sure whether or not you can breathe in space (and how could you know if you’ve never been to space!) think whether or not the rest of your powers might go hand in hand with space breathing (if your powers include things like energy or force field projection or turning into a robot that doesn’t need to breathe then you’re probably good to go). If you’re still not entirely sure if you need to bring a space suit or not, just flip a coin.
Make sure never to shout “Gee golly, I’ve never been to the moon before!” Like yeah we know, most people haven’t please shut up forever.
Feel free to bring your own flag to plant up there (whether it’s your nation’s flag or your own original design). There’s a designated space for that sort of thing. Just make sure you don’t knock over any other flags as that can and most likely will be construed as an act of war.
Make sure you stick with your group once you get to the moon. Otherwise it can be very easy to get lost and wander into some moon colony’s private property or a supervillain moon base.
Make sure your space suit (or regular clothes depending on the results of that coin toss) has pockets so you can take back some moon souvenirs. Like we said before, anything from the moon is automatically cool just by virtue of it being from the moon. Just make sure you come up with a plausible cover story if you want to display it in your civilian home for all your civilian friends to come gawk at (your superhero friends will not care that you have moon junk, they’ve all got cooler stuff than that). Say that you won an internet contest. That usually does the trick.
Remember moon gravity is about 17% what it is on Earth so you’re going to be a lot lighter when you get there. So make sure to plan the cheat day to end all cheat days right before you go. Eat all the pizza and ice cream and heavy cream you want! None of it matters! You’re going to space!
Make sure to bring a flashlight or some other light source (if you can glow in the dark then you’re golden) so you can check out the dark side of the moon which is filled with all sorts of cool stuff like giant snakes and crashed alien space ships and Neil Armstrong’s birth parents. (Wait was that a pun before?)
Once you’ve got everything in this list memorized and taken care of you’ll be ready to go to the place where every step is one giant leap for mankind and where werewolves can be their truest, hairiest selves all the time. The moon is a place of endless wonder and magic (literally since Balthazar the Eternal accidentally spilled an entire bucket of magic all over the moon) and should be appreciated and enjoyed by everyone at least once in their superhero careers. So build a spaceship in your backyard or get yourself accepted to Moon School (you can get accepted to Moon School by completing a multiple choice quiz about the moon and then paying me a ridiculously exorbitant amount of money!) and get on over there! (Floon doesn’t want you to visit so don’t even bother trying).
So, you know that post about putting werewolves on the moon?
My friends are convinced werewolves on the moon would never transform, rather than always being transformed, so of course the conversation turned immediately to lunar werewolf colonies, and werewolves not having to transform if they had a bit of moon rock on them.
This is, of course, something that should be debated extensively before a conclusion is reached, because being on the moon might have the opposite effect entirely.
It could be that because while on the moon, some part of the moon always being dark would negate transformation. Or, it could be that proximity to the moon would increase the effect of the moon, leading to transformation even when the moon is waxing or waning.
Additionally, my friends posited that werewolves are only attuned to Earth’s moon, so werewolves on other planets may transform entirely out of sync with their planet’s moon(s).
But on the other hand, if werewolves are only affected by moons in proximity, what would happen to werewolves on planets with multiple moons? Would their transformations only occur when all the moons are full, or when each moon is full? Would the effects be amplified depending on the number of full moons, how close they are to the planet, and how big they are?
I have so many questions about space werewolves.
Thoughts?
werewolf-lukeis great but what about werwolf-din?
Oh, oh, man, yes.
Putting aside how ~handy it would be for Bounty Huntering - Din’s helmet with it’s wide array or sensors and different modes and whatnot is totes rad?
But, like, some instance in which all of that’s rendered effectively useless by, idk atmospheric interference/fancy jamming gadget/being bashes around?
Din having to fall back on tracking the ~old fashioned way, but werewolf!Din has enhanced senses to help. Also enhanced strength and healing and whatnot, because yes.
Bu mostly, okay, mostly I am picturing baby Din who’s not in control of his shifts so in the Before Times his parents have to chase after this adorable little baby of theirs, right?
Sweet little thing who crawls all over the place but also sometimes turns into this fluffy little wolf pup with wobbly legs and this happy little bark and a all that.
AND THEN.
Skipping over the whole Angst Bit where his village was destroyed and whatnot, werewolf!Din being rescued by the Mandalorians who are like *SIGH* because of course the kid’s a werewolf, of course he is and resulting shenanigans.
The Armorer being “Hm,” when presented with this scrawny kid who is sometimes a lanky wolf and being like “I see,” and Din not knowing what that means at all?
But - and this is super indulgent, okay, sorry - I also kind of love the idea of the Armorer also being a werewolf.
Because omg, pls let me have this.
Part of the reason Din’s brought to her is so she can train him to use his werewolf heritage the most advantage and the whatnot? But also because he is a bit of a menace and they’re like, we love the kid, but we are also Tired.
And then, idk, shenanigans???
Also, though!
Many years later the new Mand’alor walking into her forge with another werewolf beside him (look, why not ALL the werewolves) carrying his tiny green gremlin kid and being like “He followed me home,” which is just an outrageous lie but Luke rolls his eyes and anyway, yes.
But man, oh, man, werwolf Din, is pretty great and I love the idea lots?
Din and Luke sparring that sometimes involves laser swords and sometimes a pair of wolves going for throats?
But also, also, furry cuddle piles with Grogu squarely in the middle and tiny little hands with claws perfect for getting the hard to reach spots for scratches and scritches.
does the armourer make armot for werewolf-luke?
In my heart she does, yes. XD
I googled dog armor and was treated to so much amazingness???
As much as I love the idea for several reasons I don’t think they go into a combat situation expecting to go all wolfy, so perhaps the armor she makes is for ceremonial/decorative purposes meant to honor friends of Mandalore and such?
Like.
Gorgeously crafted and such? And most people think it’s meant to be displayed, but the Armorer is like, lol, no, because it’s very much practical as well.
And then there’s a situation in which one or both of them do expect to go into a combat situation all wolfy and someone helps them into their armor and such. The baddies get treated to the sight of the most fashionable murder machines on four legs in the entire galaxy, before, you know, they get murderized.
:D?
(At the very least there’s a decorative chestplate.)
