Had anyone asked about what Tyreen thinks of having a child? Would she want to be a mom and if so what kind of mom would she be?

Tyreen: "You're joking, right? I'm a mother to billions, what more could I possibly want... some screaming blob? Hah - not my style."

Whether she wants children or not is irrelevant, in fact, she doesn’t.

She grew up without so much as seeing a child, and finds the idea of them pretty repulsive as a grown woman. Loud, smelly, irritating people who need and need and need. She’s got no concept of the mental differences between a child and an adult having never been around any to develop it, so finds it hard to understand a child can’t be expected to comprehend their actions and behave to the same level she’d want them to.

They frustrate her, and the last thing Tyreen Calypso wants to be is a mother. Mothers.. mothers will just disappoint you.

It may not really be Tyreen that thinks this way though. How much of how she reacts towards children is a defense mechanism for knowing she can't ever make one herself or even touch one she cared for without The Leech taking it from her is hard to say... it could be a lot, it could be none.

Some people straight up don't like kids, and that's fine. Ty has never once been around a child younger than her. Think about that. Not ONCE. She's NEVER been around someone less developed mentally than her till she landed on Pandora. Troy was always equal, her parents were advanced, she has no tolerance or understanding for what it means to be a child to an adult - to not have the same ability to comprehend or deal with situations. Ty has always been the number one focus of her VERY isolated life, so how well would she handle the way a child needs that complete attention?

Badly, especially with The Leech corrupting her thoughts and needs for its own gains...

She's also desperately aware she could accidentally kill any allowed too close to her.

It's horrifying, it spikes anxiety through her nervous system in a way she hates, it's fear and fear is weak when she isn't.. but it's real, and it's there.

The Grand Cathedral has a complete ban on children anywhere in the main grounds, extremely odd for the Holy City where there aren't any schools and the kids of city dwellers tend to spend most of their time learning through the E-Net while their parents work. There are some in the kitchens, in maintenance, helping the adults with menial tasks in between play, but the rule enforcement is HARSH and they know better to be seen anywhere a Vanguard would patrol. That's a one way ticket out of the Cathedral and back home, plus a verbal savaging for your parents.

The rule isn't flexible not because Troy doesn't like seeing the odd kid, it's because he fully understands why his sister doesn't, and he can keep her stress levels down without her needing to find a way to explain herself when he knows that would only upset her more.

It would only take one to trip at the wrong time... run around a corner at the wrong moment, reach to touch the hand of a Queen they adored.. it would take one tiny mistake and they would be cracked flesh and crystal bone.

Tyreen is as much a killer as any other predator but accidentally taking life is something neither twin has much stomach for - there's a difference, even on a hellpit like Pandora.

IF she ever was rid of The Leech? Who knows.

Maybe that's the main issue, maybe the envy she knows she would feel even for a child of her own is enough to stop her ever considering even if she resigned herself to never feeling their contact - maybe it's not and a healed Tyreen would still have no interest in a kid.

Maybe she would be that kind of mom who lavishes love and sometimes expects too much, but apologises as she learns. Maybe she'd be that loudmouth who embarrasses her kid every time she's around them in public but only because she gets so excited to meet their friends she can't help herself.

Maybe she'd laugh at the idea of one and flip you the bird for even implying there could be anyone more important in her life than her.

Guess time will tell.

I've been replaying the first Borderlands, and taking notes on what changes in the sequels, as well as noting lil stuff people might have forgotten about. I'm gonna make a post about it later, but I feel the need to share this tidbit first: Tannis had a dog at some point, and it was punched by Baron Flynt. I can imagine her mentioning that offhand to a somewhat perplexed Zane, lol. Kinda wish it was mentioned again at some point

That would require Bl3 Tannis be the same character as pre Bl1/Bl2 Tannis haha oof

Fr tho I love HCing that she got on relatively well with all the Bl3 vault hunters in different manners, and is perfectly happy to chat with them after solidifying such a friendship with Lilith/Moxx/Ellie over the last few years and working on her ingrained isolation issues. I wonder how much the older Crimson Raider crew put Flynt + Flynt together when it comes to Zane. Is it a "Haha I knew a Flynt once. He punched my puppy and then my friend blew his head off " banter levels, or "I knew a Flynt once..🤨" suspicion. Does Zane mention to any of the main chars at any point in dialogue that he's one of THOSE Flynts? I've not played him! I kinda like the idea of Flynt being a really common surname and him innocently downing a pint as Tannis runs through the awful shite they had to deal with when it came to his family.

I haven't seen Tyreens face in many moons but the way you mentioned her scars and then Troy's jaw thing, paired with your implication that Tyreen was the one to actually kill Troy by eating him while he was still alive, makes me think Troy just went feral and tried to chomp her head like a grape

He’s 100% responsible for those scars, but not intentionally.

" Troy - "I can fit a bowling ball in here Ty, I tried. I cracked it, dude." Ty - "UHHGHH YOU COULD FIT A HEAD IN THERE" Troy - "EASILY!!" Ty - "Oh my God. Troy. Troy. Put MY head in, we can stream it, can be the big reveal like, pfft, camera can just zoom out from me introducing you and it's that massive fang shit everywhere all around me people will fucking die bro they will explode." Troy - "What. Ty, you're a genius." Ty - "I KNOW."

Muffled laughter from inside their cloister fades to concerning silence over the next few minutes.
