Want to see me at GalaCon?

Hey everyone! As you all know, GalaCon is coming up later this year, and yours truly has been invited to perform once again.

Unfortunately there is one small snag. This time around, due to them working hard to secure some spectacular guests from the other side of the ocean, the con are less able to help out community guests with the costs for travel and accommodation - meaning yours truly is left with a bit of a conundrum.

So, I figured the obvious thing to do is to appeal to you guys, the community, as I know from personal experience that you’re all lovely people.

If I’m gonna go, I’ll need some financial assistance. I’m gonna provide a link in this post to where you can donate if you feel like you can help. In the interests of transparency, here’s the budget.

Total cost, estimated: £500, broken down as follows: Plane tickets: £180 ~ £250, depending on when I can book. Hotel: Approx £216 for the three nights total that I’ll need. Remainder: Trains, food, that’s it.

I’ve been told that so long as I can make it to an airport close to the con, they’ll help me get from there to a hotel.

In a bit of a tight spot, could really use some assistance

Hey folks. I don't like having to do this, but I don't really have a choice.

I need some financial assistance. Due to me missing a payment on one or two bills there are now extra charges on them. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I've also helped out a few friends with transport costs for a convention that's coming up, and not all of them have paid me back yet. That in and of itself also would not usually be a problem, but my rent is also due as well, and I need to get that paid off asap.

I essentially need to raise about £300, preferably before the end of next week if at all possible. It's not a huge amount, all things considered, and that would cover me for the rent and the other bills that have needed paid off.

I'm in a bit of a tight spot. Can you help?

Seems like I'm calling on peoples' charity a lot of late, though more often than not for the sake of people I know rather than myself.

Well, this time it's a bit different. This time it's me that needs some assistance.

As you know, I attended GalaCon earlier this month as a Guest of Honour – which was great fun, by the way, and I had a blast! Unfortunately, it did have the associated cost of renewing my passport, and that's left me somewhat out of pocket.

That wouldn't be too big of an issue except that I don't have that much to spare – and, thanks to the realities of bill payments and bank fees, I'm now in a somewhat dire situation whereby I need to cover the cost of my rent, and I'm definitely far too out of pocket to manage it.

So that's where I need your help, folks. I can't really promise anything in return (other than my gratitude) as I do already have outstanding things I am working on, not to mention the associated frenzied activity that comes with helping to prepare the last things for a massive convention (aka BUCK).

Spare some bits, get some notes!

Hey folks!

I've run into a bit of a snag recently when trying to get some notation sorted out for some of my songs. I know a lot of you have been waiting on me releasing some tablature for a number of the songs I've done.

Turns out that Guitar Pro is absolutely RUBBISH for doing this with. Who'd have guessed? Seems it can only record MIDI input for notes alone, it will not detect note length or anything useful like that. That wouldn't be a problem were it not for the fact it only speeds up the notation process by a tiny fraction – it doesn't allow me to just plug in the YRG and record an entire song to notation as I thought it would.

That will make the tab-making process very fast and efficient, and will in turn allow me to make tabs of all of my songs in record time.

I know I tend to ask for help a lot, but I wouldn't ask if I had the means to get it on my own, and I want to use it to benefit other guitarists in this little community of ours.

That, and it's a mere £42 to get it. Barely a drop in the ocean as far as music software goes, but it's money I don't have for software I'd like to be able to use.
