can we please get some uhhhh SparklingKnight fluff i have a mighty need
“I thought we agreed I wouldn’t be patching you up again after you got your ass kicked.” Sparkling grumbled, disinfecting one of Knight’s cuts.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sorry. It wasn’t my fault this time! I got teamed up on.” He defended weakly, scrunching his face up as the disinfectant stung.
“Teamed up on?”
“...By gravity.”
Sparkling could only sigh, looking up at Knight’s eyes and holding eye contact for a few moments before going back to patching him up. Knight scrunched up his face again when the eye contact broke.
“I saw that.”
“No you didn’t.”
“Do you know what I saw?”
“...No?”
Sparkling nodded, not elaborating. Knight could only whine as Sparkling finished up with the rest of his small cuts.
“So you fell?”
“Yes.”
“Where? You look like you fell through a rose bush.”
“Aha… well… uh about that-”
“Holy shit Knight-”
“It was an accident!”
“Don’t you have armor for that reason?”
“It was just warm up sparring, no hits or anything… I didn’t think I needed it.”
“I don’t know if that makes it better or worse…” Sparkling sighed, covering the cuts with brightly coloured band aids. Specifically, the ones that Knight bought as a joke.
“Well now I look more rugged and handsome, wouldn’t you say?”
Sparkling had no comment, looking at Knight blankly again. Knight stared back until Sparkling tore his gaze away.
“Look- I just-”
“I know.”
“No you don’t…” Sparkling muttered with a huff, “just- let me speak.”
Knight nodded quietly, “I’m listening?”
Sparkling nodded back, taking a deep breath. “I care a lot. About you, about your well being. I worry, Knight, a lot. Your job is dangerous and I know you’re trained and a professional but then things like this happen and my brain worries. It worries so much it keeps me up at night even though you’re there, right beside me, and I know you’re safe. I’m scared you’ll run off and fight another dragon but this time not make it out. I listen to everyone else's issues as a job, but at the end of the day it just makes me realize there’s so much to actually be worried about that it feels kind of silly that you’re the only thing I worry about.”
Knight opened his mouth to comment, but Sparkling shook his head.
“I know you can handle yourself, I know you’re strong, smart- brilliant even. You can do everything you think of, except fly-”
“You’re not letting me live that down?”
“Not at all.”
Knight smiled faintly as Sparkling held one of his hands.
“But my point is, I care about you so much. I know you love being a knight and I know you can handle it, but it doesn’t stop me from worrying about you.”
He nodded, “I love you.”
“I love you too…”
“Sparkling… I- I’ll try to be safer. I’ll pay more attention and tell you when I plan on running off on errands. Okay?” Knight pressed a kiss on Sparkling’s forehead.
“Thank you…” He mumbled softly, putting the band aids away.
“It’s never a problem,” Knight shook his head, “thank you for always being here for me.”
“It’s noth-” Knight cut Sparkling off with a short kiss, and when they pulled apart Sparkling just gave him a confused look.
“It’s not ‘nothing’ Sparkling, it never is.”
“...alright.”
Knight nodded and Sparkling nodded back.
“C’mere…” Knight opened his arms and Sparkling hugged him tightly, causing Knight to make a soft ‘oof’ noise. “You’re alright, I’m alright, it’s all good.”
