okay no but now this is in my head ugh-
david jacobs who wants so desperately to help his family that he decides to start selling papers- he doesn't entirely know where he's going or what he's doing but he's going to figure it out because his family needs him
a david jacobs who does not end up at the booth in manhattan but rather crossing the brooklyn bridge and instead of meeting jack kelly meets spot conlon- and while spot is tough it's because he's going to care for and protect his boys with all he has because they're all that each other have, and leaving this new kid alone out there (so far from home) would go against all that he stands for, really
david jacobs, who after being questioned what he's doing all the way out here, who comes up with some poor excuse that he doesn't want to be caught outside of class because the other kids are too rough on him and his parents would never approve
spot teaching david how to fight and take care of himself, becoming an entirely different version of davey
(les sneakily following along too one day despite his older brother telling him that brooklyn is too dangerous, and spot giving him his first ever slingshot)
jack kelly coming over to brooklyn with some half-baked plan of revolution, expecting to be fully shut down by spot only to be given a chance by this oddly intimidating kid that he's never heard of before but somehow seems like he knows more than the rest of them who gives them a simple warning not to go and mess it up
just... davey in brooklyn
