So my Castlevania OC has been cooking for a couple years, and I didn’t want to drop them until I thought everything was perfect. However, perfect is the enemy of done. So say hello to Essence Estremera! They’re a Jewish Speaker descended from the Belnades family on their father’s side, and through some Unexplainable Bullshit, their destiny seems to be tied to Adrian Tepes.
In Castlevania, Essence gets sent to the year 1473 at the ripe old age of sixteen (16). She’s taken in by Lisa after wandering for a month, and she became very close with Alucard. After Lisa’s death, Essence fled the castle while Alucard bought time for her to escape, and was eventually found by Sypha’s clan of Speakers, where she learned to harness elemental magic and traveled with them for the next year. She participated in the slaying of Dracula after being reunited with Alucard, and was sent back to her time rather unceremoniously during the confrontation with Death.
In Castlevania Nocturne, Essence is now twenty-six (26), has degrees in history and ballet, and has fully come out as nonbinary. This time, they go back in time to Revolution-era France with their parents. They form a sibling relationship with Maria and fit into the vampire-hunting escapades like a glove. They also struggle with C-PTSD, having developed it after the things they experienced in the original series. I still haven’t drawn up much for their Nocturne look, but I’ll post it when I do!
