I've been rolling this ask around in my head for while few weeks and I'm finally asking you: In your opinion, would you say that a teen (CHARACTER A) being caught doing something against the rules by someone else (CHARACTER C) and then being given back to their guardian (CHARACTER B) is more or less worse than the guardian catching them (CHARACTER A) in the act themselves??I Sorry if it's a confusing question!

I think that this is most likely going to be dependent on the relationship dynamic between Characters A, B, and C. I know I personally would preferred have been caught doing something by my parents directly rather than being delivered to them by a third party, but I also know people who would prefer the opposite. I think the best thing for you to do is consider both options from the perspective of both Characters A and B, and then go with whichever you feel fits best with the continued story!

I’d like to start giving tips on how to deal with specific problems again, like I’ve done for period pains and social phobia.

So far, the ones I’m planning are headache tips and cleaning bathroom tips, because this is an advice and self care blog and I think those qualify.

Hi, I have a story idea and the main character is in therapy. I've been having a hard time writing the therapy scenes because I want them to be accurate but I have no idea how to do this. Any tips?

Hi Nonnie!  Thanks for the question!  The fact that you want it to be accurate is excellent!  My main tip here is research! Read everything,  talk to people about their experiences and if you can,  book an appointment for yourself. First hand experience is always a handy viewpoint to write from. 

Write, write and rewrite the scenes. Don’t worry about getting it 100% accurate in the beginning, you can always come back and refine the experiences, as they need to change to effect your story line or feed the reader information about the protagonist. 

In my personal experience of therapists, as with all people, each one is entirely different. They all have a different feel, a different location, a different set of morals, and advice. So accuracy of portrayal can widely vary. I have seen a number of them in my life, three of which spring to memory- one was a tall casual man with crazy hair that acted like my wildcard friend - another was a calming, quiet lady who acted like my spiritual journey leader - and the other was the most average man you’ve ever met, he was big on meditation and listening. Every therapists room is different too- I’ve never once laid on a couch in one.

Hi there! So I have a character who my main character doesn’t know the name of yet for a while but should I still put the name for the readers to see but to my main character, he’ll be referred to as “the human” until he finds out his name? Or will it be too confusing?

I’ve been debating this answer for a while, and even after discussing it with some people, I can’t give you a definite thing one way or the other. If your main character is your narrator, it certainly makes sense not to refer to him by name. Otherwise...it’s really up to you! If you read it back and it feels confusing, you can always adjust.

Okie dokie, how would you write if a character is graduating and friends of theirs aren't sure they are ready for that person to leave? Like, they're close friends and such.

I’ve left this sitting in my inbox for a long while because…there’s no cookie-cutter way to go about this. Moments like these can greatly depend on your characters and their personal ways of showing emotion, which will affect your scene greatly. But I can try my best to help with what I can! And, of course, I’m not the best source in general because the high school I graduated from wasn’t particularly filled with close friends, I didn’t move anywhere else, and neither have most of my friends at this point

I would recommend:

Focusing on body language; this way, if your characters aren’t saying what they feel, the reader can get a sense of what it is they’re really thinking.

Feel free to show a variety of responses within your characters! They don’t all need to respond the same way about it.

You can choose to either dance around the possibility of not seeing each other again, or you can address it directly. Either way, it makes for a wonderful emotional moment!

I have an idea for a story where this man goes to another dimension using his powers since his home dimension hates him because of his powers. The first and only dimension he goes to is really nice to him and he stays there, as the version of him from that dimension died and the "friends" he had in his home dimension are nice in the new dimension. Anyway, I got a question: how should I make his home universe seem mean to him when I'm gonna start off the story with him leaving for a new one?

Well, there are a lot of ways that you can show the way he’s been treated, either directly or indirectly! You directly show them calling him names, treating him differently, being physically or verbally aggressive, et cetera, just before he goes, show this in a flashback, or even just have him reflect on that past as he leaves, hoping to leave that all behind him!

There’s a birth scene in one of my stories. I don’t want it to be too graphic or gross but not sure how to write it. Any tips?

If you don’t want it to be graphic or gross, I wouldn’t recommend going into detail about the things that are graphic and gross, simple as that! Focus on the energy of the room, the character responses, et cetera. Or, you could always bring us to the brink of active labor, cut out, and bring us back in after the birthing process has finished.

Hi I need some help like BADLY! I have a story with caricatures and everything but Thr problem is that the Main Caricature is suppose to go insane and kill some one. But I have no clue how to write him going insane and no reason why all I got is he is a murder.

There’s a wide variety of reasons for people to snap and start killing people. Some very common ones include:

Vengeance/to get even

An extreme dislike of a certain kind of person/specific people

To “punish” something/something

The belief that the world is better off without certain people

An enjoyment of causing pain/fear
