I just finished ep3 of Eighth Sense and I can't watch ep4 yet, so they're just staring at each other across that subway car and ITS FINE IM FINE.

I decided that we needed a tubular cast on because hats shouldn't pinch, even though pur goal is speed. I have now wound the skein and started the cast on.

I did a speed Stitch of my next row which was seed Stitch border and then the entire rest was a knit stitch... And this took me about 16 to 17 minutes... So overall it looks like no matter what row I do I can average about 15 to 20 minutes a row... And I've done about 18 rows so far out of a hundred and eighty... I have a long way to go.... somehow I feel like I made this blanket a little too big for a baby it looks like it would be adult size almost... Or at least just big enough to place atop your legs when you're sitting on the couch... but that doesn't matter... He will grow into it and he can use it even as a toddler or he can wear it like a cape around the house and valiantly protect his mother from begging dogs who want a bite of people food

ERRATA: In the decrease section, the “k18” should be “work 18 stitches as presented in the ribbing pattern”

Complicating factors: that pattern is absolutely written for fingering yarn, and the yarn I have is absolutely sport weight. The pattern recommends 0s and 2s, I'll be using 3s and 4s. My partner has, I love him, a very big head, however, so this might not be the obstacle I think unless there are a LOT of false starts.

I have a LOT of dramas I'm half through, so keeping myself busy isn't going to be hard.

speed knitting ... impressive ... I'm a schlo-mo knitter & can't quite get the continental technique down ... maybe someday ...

Last night my mum pointed out that my knitting technique was really quite slow. I lift my hand off the right needle to wrap the yarn. 

I blamed her, of course, because she taught me.

Then I went onto Youtube to learn how to speed it up a little. Knitting a garter stitch sweater is a good opportunity to learn and work on technique, after all.

I looked at a few videos, but this was the first technique I found that felt easy, intuitive and effective. The quality of the video is awful, but you get the idea. Hopefully it can help some other beginner knitters out there.
