There's NO business like show business!!! Few know what goes on backstage with last minute under the gun problems/tasks. I worked day and night to get this ready for the Billy Joel show today in Maryland. After I finished the guitar I overnighted it to the hotel! This Gibson Les Paul is Tommy Brynes' guitar. Tommy is Billy's lead guitarist and a real nice guy. I spent hours fitting and getting the nut height to Tommy's specs. The nut is made of fossilized woolly mammoth. I buffed and angled the nut slots correctly to the headstock angle for tuning stability. The nut has a factory flush to the neck/cream binding look and feel. In the swipe pics check out the coin style stamping of SKULL & CROSSBONES that mounts to the top of the Gibson speed knobs! After the stamping is done I have to do some detail carvings, tumble the piece and polish it. The design was made of brass and nickel plated to match the hardware. The last step is matching the Gibson Les Paul guitar sunburst color of red and yellow by painting the background of the stamping. Also, check out the skull switch tip. The threads on the switch tip look like spinal vertebrae and makes the piece come together as a unique addition.
