what was ur first robert deniro movie you watch, & how did you become a fan?
Wow, first film I ever saw about Robert? … I think I’m gonna go for ‘Meet The Fockers’ haha. I probably saw it when I was 10 or so, I always wondered about his character I don’t even know why.
I blame destiny for making me a De Niro fan lol. I saw an add about Taxi Driver on VH1 and I just saw Robert for a second, realized that was the film where the whole ‘You Talkin’ To Me’ deal came from and then I saw Taxi Driver with a couple friends the first time I saw it, and I loved that film. Just the main character Travis, I could just feel related to him somehow. The way it was filmed, the photography , sound, everything, I was in awe. The story line and how it plays with your mind.
Then (and this is destiny don’t try and tell me it’s not haha) we had this debate class and the teacher just decided she’ll make us watch a film about the enviorment and the colonies and stuff and guess who was in the film? Robert De Niro. The film was ‘The Mission’ and I just waited every week just to finish it!
Ever since, I’ve always been into him, and life has made me available to do so. So I got to tumblr, I started blogging and commenting and I met fans that recommended me and gave me information about Robert, recommended me films and I’ve found his movies and characters so interesting I’ve seen almost all his movies by now. Bobby introduced me into Martin Scorsese’s films, and characters as enigmatic as Travis Bickle, Max Cady, Frankenstein and now I’m always unsure of what character he will become. I admire how he stops being Robert De Niro and becomes his character. I like how he’s a very reserved person, which makes him even more mysterious. And now I see him as someone I admire so much, and I think theres no other senior cuter than him in the whole world. If I ever get to be into Film, I would really fulfill my dream, if I get the chance to work with him.
