Let’s talk about sunscreen.

It’s almost that time of the year everyone - the sun will be coming out again soon! ☀️ While I’m sure we’ll all be enjoying whatever rays the sun decides to bless us with, it’s important to remember to wear sunscreen. Ideally, you should be using it every day on your face.

Why always wear sunscreen?

* It protects your face from harmful UVA and UVB rays which are prevalent at any time of year. UVA causes premature ageing while absorbing too much UVB rays results in sunburn, which damages your skin.

* If you suffer from hyperpigmentation, sunscreen all year round is a must. Any exposure to decent sunlight can darken (and therefore prolong) the marks on your skin. Which is something none of us want to deal with.

Generally, you want to be using a product that has at least SPF 15 for good coverage.

My favourite sunscreen products are ‘Powdered Sunshine’ by Lush (SPF 15) and Piz Buin’s SPF 15 face fluid.

If you have oily skin, then Powdered Sunshine is perfect for you. It’s sunscreen in the form of powder that you dust onto your skin, soaking up any oil you might have like a translucent powder. It’s easy to reapply - I personally use a spare make-up brush to sweep it onto my face, and the bottle is small enough to carry around with you.

For normal or dry skin types, Piz Buin’s face fluid is a winner. It’s so easily absorbed compared to normal sunscreens - it feels like a light-as-air moisturiser. It leaves no white marks, and it gives your skin a lovely glow too.
