Ashlyn Banner Headcanon time! (Plus the group at the end!)
I just thought of this one.
so basically! We all know she is the whitest looking person in the group right- like if you didn’t know her you’d totally think she had complete gringa vibes, esp when it comes to food.
you could not be more wrong.
Anyway, one time Taylor decided it would be a good idea to dare her to do a spice challenge w her after discussing Indian food (bc Ash said she loves the super spicy stuff, but Tay was like “does she like ‘spicy’ or does she like //SPICY//) thinking it would be an easy win.
(Backstory: Taylor and Tyler used to do spice competitions growing up, and they’ve got pretty high spice tolerances too, and Tay is pretty confident in her skills.)
Wrong! basically Taylor got her ass handed to her because Ashlyn (the freak of nature she is) can and will shotgun a bottle of the worlds hottest ghost pepper hot sauce in one go and feel nothing. Apparently, she has gods highest spice tolerance and eats (casually, like it’s not mouth fire from the 19th circle of hell) the spiciest Thai, Mexican, and Indian food that she can get her hands on. (The sheer proximity to the SMELL of how spicy her food is makes Aiden cry. Every time, without fail. It even makes Tay’s eyes water a bit, which is REALLY saying something.)
One time on a road trip through Atlanta, she actually won a shirt for it. When she was 9. After a dance competition. There’s a picture of her on the spice champion wall there even with her still in performance makeup (it looks like a mugshot). She broke the record there for youngest and only person ever to finish The Hot Plate. Mike and Emma also have proof of said occurrence in the family photo album, next to her recital pics taken on their shitty Polaroid camera. They saved the shirt, too.
oh also- in terms of spice tolerance, the group rankings go like this:
Ashlyn (Ultimate freak status from the hot sauce incident)
Tay (can give Ash a good run for her money, but even she can’t do the hot sauce thing)
Logan (everyone was hella surprised by this, but he and Tay are on pretty level ground.
Tyler (spice tolerance has decreased a bit with age, but he’s in reaching distance of where he used to be)
Ben (actually is tied with Tyler)
Aiden (no tolerance. Pepper makes him cry.)
