Assorted spn headcanons you can pry from my cold, dead hands
Sam cannot sing. Utterly tone-deaf. Not to say he doesn’t sing, just that he’s bad at it.
Sam has a number of cassettes squirrelled away at the bottom of the glove box where Dean (hopefully) won’t find them, including such albums Jagged Little Pill, White on Blonde and a much beloved Mamma Mia tape
Sam just does not remember a lot of his life. His whole childhood memory is patchy as hell from all the stuff he’s blocked out (Dean disappearing when he was 12 in Bad Boys, the shtriga incident, etc); the cage is more of a horrific impression than an actual coherent memory; most of S7 is a blur, and that time Toni Bevell tortured him is mostly forgotten
Lowkey non-binary but the world is always ending so he can’t worry about that right now. Also he would rather die than ask Dean to use they/them pronouns. Not a conversation anybody wants to have
Let Jess paint his nails a few times in college “for a joke” “because she wanted to”. He’s painted his own nails a few times since but always wipes it off before Dean can see to avoid the teasing (realistically Dean would crack maybe 2 jokes about it and then at some point he would be “drunk” (2 beers in) and get Sam to paint his, but this won’t happen because Dean doesn’t know)
He never fully lost his powers, he just never got good enough to exorcise demons without the blood and he sure as hell isn’t going to learn with how badly Dean reacted to them. He’s also still weirdly good at calling coin-tosses or rock, paper, scissors
Doesn’t like short hair because a) this is one thing hunting WILL NOT take from him, and b) makes him look ‘too much like a guy’
Dean always replaces ‘Cadillac’ in Slick Black Cadillac by Quiet Riot with Impala when singing along, and always recites the full intro to Stonehenge by Spinal Tap in a bad British accent (this is mostly to embarrass Sam)
Dean can sew, but I assume most people think this
Dean refuses to use any kind of touchscreen phone. #brickphones4lyfe
The handprint stayed on Dean’s shoulder. Why would it disappear? It’s still there
He knows he’s into men, but he doesn’t see how that’s anyone else’s goddamn business. Additionally, it isn’t “gay” to think men are hot, it’s “gay” to order a smoothie
Does not have particularly defined muscles. He is physically fit, he spends too much time running and grave digging to not be, but he hasn’t done a press-up since he was a kid and does not plan on changing that, also he likes food too much
Always kind of wanted to ride a horse, never has
Taught Sam to read when Sam was four or five because a) Sam pestered him enough, and b) it kept him entertained
Cas can pick up anvils so sometimes Dean just no-warning launches himself at Cas, knowing Cas will catch him. Most of the time no one (including Cas) has any reaction to this. Dean does this because he likes getting on Cas’ nerves (lovingly) and also because he enjoys being picked up
Cas also can’t sing but it’s mostly because the whole ears and vocal chords and tongues thing is new to him
Angelic space heater (which may or may not have been taken advantage of before)
Thinks this whole “being male” thing is a novel, exciting experience. Quite enjoys it. Not saying being a woman again is strictly off the cards, but tbh he could get used to “being a man”. Dean of course thinks this is wildly perplexing and is like ‘but being a man sucks you’ve got to bottle up all your emotions and you’re not allowed to wear panties or order frilly drinks >:(’ and Cas is like ‘are you sure?’
He will pick things up off shelves or start squeezing toothpaste out toothpaste tubes or turn on taps and usually Dean but sometimes Sam, without saying a word, will just stop him. Or if they’re not in front of anyone else they’ll just let him. He does this because he has the brain of a cat but with the benefit of opposable thumbs.
Bobby has suuuuuuch beef with the Victorians for their tendency to not reference sources, change things in order to fit their own world view, or wholesale make shit up. Victorian sources are like 80% of his problems (the remaining 20% are idjit 1 and idjit 2)
He’s at least a little bit of a witch. The man has a very good understanding of spellwork
Lost track of the number of times he told a young Sam and Dean not to play in the disused cars in the salvage yard (they obviously did it anyway)
The period between the threatening John with a shotgun and Sam and Dean rocking back up to ask for help was kind of grim. It was a lot of time spent at home by himself with just the occasional hunt alongside Rufus until that went South as well. Sam and Dean turning back up obviously didn’t miraculously fix anything, but it was someone to keep the house cleaner for, something that got him outside, something to think about besides past mistakes
He still has some of Sam and Dean’s drawings in a desk draw somewhere but he will not admit to that under pain of death
When Sam was little he’d call Sam his ‘research assistant’ because Sam would often sit with him and read (about dinosaurs or space but that’s beside the point)
Is the reason Sam knows as much Latin as he does
Bobby just. taught himself a lot of languages. Like realistically he could make a name for himself translating Old English texts but he’s not going to because he has better things to do. Yeah he’s read most of Dante’s The Divine Trilogy in the original 14th century Italian it’s not that hard
I know it’s not canon, but to me Bobby had his falling out with John when Sam was at Stanford
Sam and Dean are always reciting the Gandalf ‘so do all those who live to see such times’ speech, but like. really grudgingly.
They both have so many scars, chipped if not missing teeth, fingers a little squint from where they’ve been broken and not healed quite right. Cas does his best but sometimes he’s not around and the lads accumulate injuries at a worrying rate
Listen. Sam isn’t “autistic”, Dean doesn’t “have ADHD”, and Bobby isn’t “depressed”, they just… have a lot in common with those things. Dw about it. And Cas is of course Like That because he’s an angel #justtheangelthings
Sam and Dean always point out fields of horses, and pretty quickly get Cas into doing it too
