It’s not like they said anything bad. They don’t know why Piers is taking offense to the comment. Ree didn’t even think that much about it when they said it.

When they were both teenagers, James and Piers / @spikescream briefly dated.

It was very much a case of 'childhood friends grow up together and hormones meddle with shit' on top of Piers experimenting after he came out as trans, and while they didn't end up lasting more than two weeks together they split on absolutely perfect terms.

In fact they still joke about it even now.
