Tonika & *spiLa* cover "Thoughtful Zombie" by VaLSe aka FICUSEL

Soapbox: Tonika & *spiLa*
The recurring themes in Tonika and *spiLa*'s original songs are twiddly, intertwined guitar riffs with little very little distortion and a huge emphasis on melody. For such an unknown musician, Tonika is one hell of a guitar player, shifting effortlessly from complex single-stringed plucking to muted chord strums and even manages to get a screaming solo in at the mid-point of Autumn Wind. Heck, he's even made an arrangement of a Justin Bieber Christmas song that's pretty damn listenable. *spiLa*'s pleasingly clear and warm vocals add to this to create a wonderfully rich atmosphere. The lyrics (I'm not sure who writes them composed by *spiLa*) are written in English and sung with flawless pronunciation, once again making me feel terrible at my own attempts to learn another language. All their songs feature truly fantastic production values for, again, tracks with mere thousands of YouTube views. I am of course aware that YouTube views aren't everything but aside from a couple of songs they released for the Joy For Japan earthquake benefit compilation in 2011, YouTube is the only place most of these songs exist. As well as their original stuff they also have a fair few excellent cover versions under their belt. Here's their version of The Band Apart's Moonlight Stepper, which I like way better than the original:
I'd recommend these guys to anyone but especially fans of bands like Radwimps, Spangle Call Lilli Line and Tubelord. They've been posting songs more frequently this year, so I'm hoping this can be the start of greater recognition for these two. Here's a playlist with everything they've put out on YouTube so far to get you started but I highly recommend buying the two Joy For Japan tracks. They're ¥200 each, which is just over a pound and well worth the price of entry for their two best songs. I hope you enjoy these guys as much as I have. Talk to you soon!

Send me a ship and a situation and I’ll write a six word short story about it.
Why’d you keep this from me?
"Can you feel it kicking?"

To say the least, he was surprised to actually feel a few tiny kicks when he finally complied and pressed his hand against his girlfriend’s belly. His brow furrowed in confusion, and he blinked and shaked his head in order to clear his thoughts. “I..Yeah, I can” His gaze shifted from his hands to her, his brow still furrowed “Doesn’t that freak you out?”
"I'm not going to leave you."

In truth - he hated hospitals. There was always that heavy presence of death hanging over the entire building, and the smell of antiseptic assaulted the senses of anyone who entered. So, it was no wonder why the first thing out of his mouth when the injured agent woke up and saw someone sitting beside his bed was a panicked “Please don’t leave.” A few moments later, when he was fully awake and had gotten a good look at the person beside him, he was - to say the least - embarrassed. Despite her calming words, the smile he gave in return was sheepish. “Thank you, Lila”
