Like, yeah, here's a machine for killing hundreds of thousands of people; just a few years ago, two cities in Japan were laid waste; an exchange of them could go a fair ways to exterminating all life on Earth. Let's celebrate this with a children's toy!

Also it was a tie-in product with the Lone Ranger, which, admittedly, I've never seen or listened to, but I'm not really sure that "atom bombs" synergize with cowboys (Slim Pickens's character in Doctor Strangelove notwithstanding)
