It took me 20 years to realize that I’ve been meditating my whole life and never realized it. Meditation does not have to always look like sitting cross legged with closed eyes; it can be anything that allows your mind to disconnect. For some, this looks like running, yoga, gardening, painting, etc. For me, it looks like writing. ✶ As a kid, I used to love jamming in my headphones and getting completely and utterly lost in the pulsing vibes of my favorite songs as I’d scribble away in my notebook. I usually began these sessions by simply writing the lyrics as quickly and effortlessly as I could, until my mind was swept into the sounds and my thoughts were drowned. It’s a process that shuts down the ‘ego’ part of my brain and the words just fly. I use lyrics to get things going, but then stray and write in intuitive streams with no perception of time. And I always end each session with a strong sense of balance and internal peace. ✶ Now, this is still one of my favorite ways to meditate and connect to Spirit and energetically recharge!
