thought 1: what's the expression I'm thinking of for this piece of dialogue. Probably "patronizing". thought 2: wait trolls shouldn't have the word "patronizing", it's from the root word for "father" and lusii very much don't fill the same role in their society as human fathers, why would the word develop that way thought 3: you had to name a historical time period a few chapters ago and called it "the Troll Edwardian Era" stop taking this so seriously thought 4: .......the societal concept of authority and condescension for trolls would take the form of the empress anyway, trolls should say "matronizing". Because it would be funny. thought 5: you have stopped typing in mid-sentence and have been sitting in motionless silence going on this mind journey for the last five minutes consider perhaps writing something already for fuck's sake

Summary:

“What,” says Unsui, and is keenly, painfully aware that whatever stoic expression his face might have locked itself into in his shock, his cheeks are damningly warm. One part of his mind demands, do something, his plan is working, you’re losing! The other part says, your first kiss was a cackling bastard of a man, because he thought it would make you more likely to lose to him at football. -- Kongo Unsui gets kissed by a man. He's proud to say his performance as a quarterback doesn't suffer at all, in the…extensive aftermath. Hiruma Youichi makes a move, and then does what he does best, which is scramble like a motherfucker and improvise an offense from scratch. Anezaki Mamori analyzes the situation, and politely intervenes. Kongo Agon has a goddamn crisis.

Hello splickedy! I love your writing a whole lot, and I wanted to ask you- I know a sequel to Poor Unfor-tuna-te Shoals is/was/will be in the works, so I want to know how its going?

ahahahahah well I know approximately what the plot will be and have written a good deal of Gamzee's slow decline into The Land of Batshit and Religion and his former faith slowly coming back to bite him in the ass like a motherfucker.  Terrible thing.

So like.  10% of a story.  Generously speaking.  I've been doing a lot of Saviors of the World, and I've been trying to get that done, but life has been killing me so hard I can't even seem to get headway made on that?  It's all been little projects, not full-length chapter stuff.  :T  

Point is, Ri At Caras/"The Hungry One" is pretty low on my priority list rn, especially while my files are locked on my dead computer and my new computer is still shipping in. TuT  It's a rough time for fic productivity.

I was just curious, not trying to fish for spoilers or anything, but is there a chance that we might see some GamJane in any of your current AUs? Like, the sequel to PoUnFoSho or maybe FUB since Tavros appears to maybe be dead in that one I think?

In PoUnFoSho...maybe!  Back when I started that story I had never heard of Gamjane, so it wasn't in the plan, but now that I think about it there is a conspicuous space where it might go.  :D  It would need some finagling.  Some plot shenanigans would be required.  Dirk would probably have an angry heart attack.

As for From Under Bridges...the situation is complicated.  He's not in the market for a new matesprit, let's put it that way.

He's not actually in a market for anything, he's in prison, but yeah.  He's not looking.

what happened to sotw Eridan (Like when Gamzee invaded his mind, what were those memories about?)

Saviors Eridan was very very badly bullied by a group of kids at his school who were scared of his weird ability to say and do things that just got to people, and who reacted to their fear with anger.  They forced him to do some things he's very much not proud of, filmed it and held that over his head for years.  They started in on him early in his schooling and didn't let up until the day he was apparently found dead in the school pool.  

So yes, there was a lot of give and take of painful memories going on there, and neither of them enjoyed it very much.  Which is the point of Eridan's powers, in the end, if somebody messes with him he can mess with them right back.

Hey Splickedy, there is this amaaaaaaazing pale Gamkar fic on Ao3called "It's Probably Plain to See That I Got a Whole Lot of Pain In Me" written by mercurialMalcontent, you should really read it sometime. I think you'd love it. I sure do.

Ohhh, you mean the first Gamkar fic I ever read that made me consider moirallegiance as a romance instead of just a weird close friendship thing?  The one that introduced me to nonsexual shower porn?  The one that got me started thinking about facepaint as a symbolic/cultural thing to play around with in an emotional context?

yes I have read that fic.  mercurialmalcontent has a lot to answer for in the way of FILTHY GAMKAR exploding out of my blog and going EVERY-FUCKIN'-WHERE.

what is hopes role in sotw?? i didnt actually know he was a villain until your last post regarding sotw and now im pretty interested.

Ahhhhh yes, that's because until recently I didn't figure out how to fit him in as a villain!  :D  Hope's role is to run Life's army.  Madam Peixes wants the "normals" bowing down to her and what Madame Peixes wants, Madame Peixes gets.  The Amporas are in the same boat as the Pyropes in that their actual abilities aren't very combat-oriented, but in their field they can be terrifying.  

Hope's power is like one of those ones in an RPG where you hit somebody and at first it doesn't seem to do anything so everybody's like "haha you got junk powers dude".  But the thing is that the longer he's around somebody the more they like him, they want to be around him, the more sway he has over them.  And eventually they'll do what he says, they'll tell him things, they'll compete for his favor.  They'll obey every order he gives them.  

With large groups it takes effect over several days, a week or two if there are a lot of people.  When it's him and another person one-on-one and he's intentionally turning his powers on them, it takes a massive force of will not to be falling over yourself to serve him.  And they look just like normal people and think just like normal people until he requires them to do something.  They melt into a crowd and show up with a knife to try to stab members of team Alpha in the backs.  They pretend to be trapped in buildings to lead the Gamma kids in after them to get swarmed by imps.  Hope's soldiers are terrifying.
