The Split Attraction Model doesn't force anyone to do anything.
This model simply existing does nothing. It doesn't force anyone to describe their attraction in separate, distinct boxes. It allows this to happen, but doesn't force it.
The split atraction model only says that attraction can be split, not that it has to be.
NO ONE is forcing you to put your attractions into discrete boxes.
The SAM is useful for some people, but it is NOT for everyone. If you can't separate your attraction into separate categories, don't force youself to separate it.
And definitely don't tell other people that their attraction can't be split just because yours can't be.
Ironic
So, you know how a lot of anti-SAM people will say “you can’t have split attractions, it’s just comp het”? Well, it’s the opposite for me.
I was reading the Am I a Lesbian? Masterdoc today and I realized that I relate to a lot of the things it says. It helped me be extra sure (I already was sure) that I am, in fact, biromantic homosexual, not a lesbian or bisexual.
Let me explain.
A lot of the things about sexual attraction to men are relatable to me, but not the ones about romantic attraction. I can go into more detail if you don’t believe me. Basically, my romantic attraction to dudes is REAL and NOT a product of comp het (which I’ve known since KINDERGARTEN, but whatever.) Also, whatever I may have thought was sexual attraction to men in the past, was, in some way (for me, it’s probably more like “compulsory not-SAM” or something. idk) forced.
Basically, through learning about comp het and how it affects me, I have further confirmed that I am biromantic homosexual. Ironic, isn’t it? How anti-SAM people will say that comp het invalidates my experience, when it actually proves it?
(that’s not to say that my relationship with comp het is common. it may even be unique. idk.)
