Forge No. 2, (most likely a lime kiln), at Splitrock Furnace in Rockaway, #NewJersey. The original forge was built by Ebenezer Ferrand in the 1790s. Forge No. 1 (still standing) was built in 1862 and was the last charcoal-fired blast furnace built in New Jersey. It produced objects related to the Civil War. Various stone walls and other foundations exist at the site from a crushing mill and other outbuildings. Post #SUP fueling after paddling for almost 3 hours with some serious wind on the way back, because, let's face it, #splitrockreservoir always has some mad wind on the paddle home but it finally has water! Xander did most of it all by himself with minimal towing (well, until the wind).
