The Ford-Faesch Manor House in the Mount Hope section of Rockaway Township, #NewJersey. The house was constructed circa 1772 by Colonel Jacob Ford, Jr., builder of the Ford Mansion (Washington's Headquarters) in Morristown. The home and Mount Hope Mine were leased to John Jacob Faesch, a Swiss ironmaster, who gained prominence as ironmaster under Peter Hasenclever at the Ringwood Mine. He directed the iron mining operations at Mount Hope that provided the Continental Army with ammunition and ordnance. Faesch lived in the house until the late 1780s when he moved to Morristown. Subsequent occupants of the house were various owners of the Mount Hope Mine and the mine superintendent. In 1931, the house became a two-family home, remaining inhabited until 1973. It was placed on the New Jersey and @NationalRegisterNPS in 1973.
