Cas: DEAN! It’s so good to hear from you.
Dean: Okay... well *lil head shake* good. Uh, *clears throat* listen, Cas. Uh, Sam and I are working this case...
Cas: You’re working a case. That is so good to hear. So I assume that means you’re not going through with it, because I have to say, Dean, this plan of yours, it was born of-- of desperation, not reason.
Dean: My plan. *side-eyes Sam for publishing this in the newsletter already*
Cas: I-I know that I’m not supposed to know what I know, but...
Dean: Look, I’m fine with my plan, okay? We can talk about my plan later
Cas: Dean. You are making a terrible mistake.
Dean: Does the name “Tony Alvarez” mean anything to you?
Cas: Y-yes
Dean: Say more.
Cas: Antonio Alvarez is next in line to be prophet when Donatello dies.
Dean: Okay. Thanks, Cas.
Cas: Wait, Dean, Dean. We need to have a conversation.
Dean: Look, I really need to handle this right now. So, thank you, and, uh... It’s good to hear your voice.
Cas: Dean?
Like, the conversation was over, but Dean still felt compelled to just... tack that line about how it’s good to hear his voice on? Why?
If he wanted to just ~cut the conversation off~ because he didn’t want to let Cas push him into dealing with his stupid, terrible plan over the phone, he had the power to just... hang up and end it. He could’ve just said, “We’ll talk later,” or, “I’m gonna go handle the murderprophet now” or even “thanks so much for your help.” But instead he tells Cas It’s good to hear your voice like really Dean?
