J2 *making the finale episode*: I do everything in this fucking house 😤
NOT THEM DELETING THE LINE THAT WOULD'VE EXPLAINED WHY THEY DIDN'T CALL AN AMBULANCE 😭 (x)
Me thinking about the spn finale re-write I'm working on and how we're gonna make destiel become canon for the 203849237th time
I DON'T NEED MY HEART ANYWAY. [x]
Ok, I haven't seen/found this part of the script yet, but hellers are also rabid about a bit that said Dean Jr. joined the family business..? And saying that proves Sam not marrying Eileen was ableist, etc etc. Because if he kept hunting and raised his son in the family business then it would've made sense to marry Eileen since she's a hunter. (I'm not saying there's never ableism in spn ever, but I just don't see it here???? Her deafness has nothing to do with Sam not marrying her IMO)
Idk. If he did keep hunting, I guess it would've made "sense" to be with her since she's a hunter and they had a connection. But. I still don't like the idea that she would've been the only option. Even if they got past the idea that Chuck had written them into it at first. I don't like the idea that "leftovers have to end up together." I also don't like the idea of reducing her character down to 'fated womb.'
AND I despise the idea that because Eileen wasn't blatantly The Wife that means the writers didn't want Sam to have a disabled wife. THAT JUST REDUCES EILEEN DOWN TO HER DISABILITY WTF.
I liked Eileen as a character; she was kinda bamf; but not as a love interest. It was kinda boring and convenient. I liked that they had Sam learn ASL, because Sam WOULD, and I don't think that needs to have any romantic reasoning!! I liked them as friends. I think she could've continued being part of Sam's extended found family like Jody, but I also think Sam would've needed to make a hard break from the Life to deal with the aftermath of his emotions.
I really don't think Sam would've kept hunting. I don't think he could've. The only times he's continued hunting after Dean died/disappeared was because he was trying to get Dean back, or get revenge for Dean.
I think Sam would've taught his son the ropes, though. It's the smart thing to do when you know the supernatural exists and there are ways to protect yourself. I think about all the times Sam found out he'd been kept in the dark and think that's something he would want to change in his own fatherhood.
There are a lot of things left open to interpretation on purpose, and I'm not mad about it. It leaves room for so many possibilities in headcanons. But I'm just. So Tired. Of hellers insisting their way is the only way things should've gone, their interpretations are the only valid ones, and anyone who disagrees is ableist.
You should try it. It’s... very freeing.
