What if Castiel’s real name had been Cassiel, but he had changed it because that Angel had been destined to fall for the Righteous Man? To be the Angel of Tears and feel stronger emotions?
It would make sense because Cas was afraid of falling and it’d also explain why he was different from the others. Angels like Zachariah and Uriel had their own humor and knew sarcasm. But with Cas, it was like he had never known of any other feeling but obedience. He did all he could to follow orders and keep within the lines. So what if he had stayed as far away from feelings as he could till he saw past them? Till someone could say a joke for instance and he’d take it seriously? It kind of adds up, doesn’t it?
