Angsty ShuuNeki
Nothing tastes the same to Shuu after Kaneki left him on the rooftop that night. It wasn’t just because nothing compared to Kaneki’s impeccable flavor, no it was much more than that. Everything that his servants bring to him tastes rotten, even the foods he the once proud Gourmet would go great lengths to procure himself no longer seemed appetizing. Instead it felt as though Shuu himself was being consumed. The guilt, remorse, and grief were eating him alive and stripping him of any will to care for himself. The thought of Kaneki’s death plagued him day and night, he either slept for days or not for weeks. Nothing brought him relief from this heavy sinking feeling deep in the pit of his soul, not even the dreams where he would meet Kaneki again, be able to touch Kaneki again, to hold Kaneki again, to kiss Kaneki again. Absolutely nothing could save him from this turmoil. Nothing except Kaneki.
Angsty Akiramon
It’s three long years before Akira finally begins to heal and move on with her life after the events of the Anteiku Raid. She believes both of her colleagues, Koutarou Amon and Seidou Takizawa, to be dead and long gone. Occasionally she’ll pass the bar where they shared their last meal together and it takes all of her strength to fight back the tears welling in the corners of her eyes. Sometimes she’ll look at the balcony outside her bedroom and remember how she found Amon that morning dripping with sweat from doing pushups all night. She busies herself with looking after Haise and the Quinx Squad, and for a while the distraction proves effective. That is until the auction raid, when she sees the terrible inhuman mess that’s become of Seidou and all of those old memories come flooding back all at once. Akira is both relieved to see him alive, but also mortified at what’s become of him. She can’t decide if she also wants to see Amon alive, or if it would kill her to see him in possibly the same condition.
Akiramon
Akira likes to tease Amon by flirting with him just to see how flustered he gets. He’s far too serious of a guy and he never knows how to get her back, leaving Akira with this smug little smirk on her face. They always fight over who gets to pick up the bill on their dates but it usually winds up with Amon literally running up to the counter to pay before Akira can even get up out of her seat. Amon visits Mado’s grave to ask for permission before asking Akira to marry him. It’s bittersweet for him but it just feels right, and something inside him tells him that Mado would definitely give him his blessing.
Angsty YamoNaki
Naki still carries Yamori’s mask with him into battle sometimes. He thinks it brings him good luck. At night he’ll hold it while he writes letters to Yamori in heaven, telling him about what’s been going on in Aogiri since he died. He likes Seidou and Hinami but nobody could ever compare to how deeply he loved Yamori. Naki feels kind of relieved he hasn’t seen Nico since the raid over 3 years ago, seeing someone like that from Yamori’s past would probably just bring up painful memories. Yamori’s mask still smells just like him even after all this time, and Naki dreads the day when even that piece of his aniki will leave him forever.
Amon has spent months looking for the ghoul he calls “Eyepatch” to no avail. Everywhere he thinks he will find him, he’s nowhere to be seen. Then one night he finds Eyepatch, alone on a rooftop in the dead of night. At first Amon is unsure of what to do. His first instinct is to attack him, but his need to speak with him, to learn why he didn’t kill him the night Mado was murdered, is even more powerful. They exchange glances and a long, hard silence before Eyepatch sits down with his feet dangling off the side of the building. Amon takes it as a gesture to join him and obliges by taking a seat next to the ghoul. It feels like years have passed before Kaneki finally breaks the heavy silence, asking him why Amon hasn’t killed him yet. They talk for hours about ghouls and humans, Amon asks why his own life was spared, and they discuss the CCG’s methods of exterminating ghouls. Kaneki doesn’t say much but Amon feels as though he knows more than he is letting on. As if he were actually human at one point in his life. The thought terrifies Amon but before he can even confirm his suspicions, Kaneki leaves just as mysteriously as he had appeared. And Amon is left to pick up the chase once again.
Honestly I was waiting for you to ask me for this LOL. To Naki there was literally nothing better than spending his time with Yamori. Yamori would tell Naki stories about all of the ghouls he had tortured and killed before the two of them teamed up and Naki would listen as if they were the best tales he had ever heard. Of course the only thing better than hearing of his aniki’s exploits was actually being able to take part in them, and the pair were known even through the deepest reaches of the 13th ward as the only things scarier, and possibly even deadlier than the doves. Naki loved to watch the way Yamori would rip his victims limb from limb, although he had to admit that when “Jason” came out to play it was almost a little frightening. But Naki loved Yamori all the same and when he finished up with his latest victim Naki would always wrap his tiny hand in Yamori’s large, blood-soaked one and flash him the broadest, most genuine smile as Yamori kissed his cheek. Being with aniki truly was the greatest.
