Hello! Back at it again with another AU! (This time it’s not one of my secret AUs like a coward I am)
Anyways, this AU is based off a universe my friend @/spookyflukey, made! The world is called, “Tenebres”, hence the name. Get ready for a good read! Quotes of lore taken directly from my friend!
Tenebres
Is a world where werewolves, vampires, grim reapers, plague doctors, and witches/wizards exist in the everyday world. Of course, there are humans as well, and humans can become hunters towards the monsters. (Aka, werewolves and vampires)
The werewolves in this world is different, where there are subtypes,
“Werewolves are categorized into four traditional subtypes and one race of werewolf, Tenebroso, that is yet to be recognized in packs. The four subtypes are: Cast, Inherit, Lune, and Origin.
A werewolf's subtype is determined by the means in which they become a werewolf.“
And in this universe, Kaito Momota is a werewolf subtype known as a “Tenebroso”
“Tenebroso have an upside down crescent with a circle attached to its arch on the outer rim. Some have wondered if they have any correlation with Lunes considering how similar their symbols are, though there is no evidence of this aside from the fact that Tenebroso will specifically target Lunes when they are in the area. Not much is known about Tenebrosos, though it is assumed that their initial transformation occurs under intense emotional distress.
Tenebroso are big and burly, mutated-looking werewolves. Though they do not always look this way. Similar to casts their outward appearances can largely range from one to the other. Normally their bouts of rage occur around Lunes or other werewolves, leading to rampages. When a Tenebroso is out of this state of mind they look more like a normal werewolf.
Their eyes will gleam white when they're attacking and can often times be seen spewing and coughing out black ooze from their mouth. Their entity will darken with a black aura as well.”
And meanwhile, Kokichi Ouma is a Plague Doctor
“Plague doctors are a lowlife form of witches and wizards. Oftentimes viewed as the janitors sent to clean up other witches' and wizards' messes. You do not have to be a professional in any field of magic to become a plague doctor. In order to be a "certified" plague doctor you do however need to know some simple amnesiac spells.“
Now that you got a general idea of this world, and Kokichi’s and Kaito’s roles, let’s get onto the story.
Kokichi is working as a Plague Doctor, before he was a wizard learning the ways of magic until his many mishaps and pranks got him into being a self-taught Plague Doctor. Which is not a respected rank as far as witches and wizards go. He mainly does the clean up work for other witches/wizards and leaves his own little touch when cleaning up. Kokichi knows a good amount of spells, I am not certain on what he would specialize in though.
While Kokichi was on clean up duties, late at night, he stumbled across a werewolf trapped in one of the witches’ magic. With the witches being too afraid to do more with a Tenebroso, they left it to Kokichi to deal with. (Wanting to make sure their own lives were safe)
Kokichi lied about getting rid of the Tenebroso and keeping an eye on it, observing it, as he has never seen a Tenebroso in his life until this point. Kokichi wanted to see the results of waiting the beast’s anger out, wanting to reveal who this werewolf is in the morning. So he waited out, teasing and talking to the Tenebroso as the beast tried to remove itself from its chains.
Unknowingly to Kokichi, this Tenebroso was in a rage due to a werewolf or Lune being nearby.
It was finally morning and Kokichi introduced himself to the now human Tenebroso. The man stared at him confused and cautiously towards the plague doctor.
“Oh? Is the puppy going to stay silent? After I just saved his life?”
“What do you mean?”
“Oh nothing much, just that I was tasked to kill you by the witches that trapped you here, no big deal!”
“W-What?!”
“Yeeeah, so a thank you would be nice. Orrr, you can tell me your name?”
“Momota. Momota Kaito.”
“Hmm, well Momota-chan..
...you’re sick, aren’t you?”

This AU is still needing to be worked on as I only created it last night, but that’s what I have so far! And Kaito is sorta sick? He just can’t handle all the black goo he keeps coughing up : ((
I imagine Kokichi just bugs Kaito now, interested on his behaviour and lifestyle as a tenebroso. And kinda relating to Kaito, as Tenenbroso are REALLY LOOKED DOWN UPON. And Kokichi, being a plague doctor, understand not being respected by society.
They eventually bond and come closer, and Kokichi makes it his mission to “help Kaito get better” aka, just learning how to be more in control of his fits of rage and learning to help him stop coughing up that goo 😩
