Being a spoonie parent is a weird experience. You know what you've got to do to take care of yourself. You know when you need to rest. You know when you've got to reach out for help. And you know when doing those things aren't an option. You feel like you're going to crash. You feel like you can't go on, like you're going to break down in tears because of the pain. But you can't. You have tiny humans watching you. You have tiny humans who rely on you. They need you. They need to know that you aren't going anywhere. They can see you struggling. They may even want to help you. But at the end of the day, you know that you're still the one responsible for them. So you get up and out of bed even though you know you shouldn't. You plaster on a smile and make their lunches even though the pain makes you feel like you're going to throw up. You get them dressed and bring them to school. Because but being there for them isn't an option.
