Yesterday was #GivingTuesday and I had a busy day showing kindness all over our area! First, I attended an ugly sweater luncheon for @fortwoodcsc at @theuso. The theme was Sharing is Caring and we bid on a silent auction and donated gifts for @toyfortots . Then I drove to a blood drive for #kindnessonroute66 before picking up the girls from school and heading to @Starbucks to put kindness rocks outside and give away giftcards for coffee. The girls donated their change to the @salvationarmyus bell ringer at @walmart and were given jingle bells, which made their night! Spreading kindness. In a world that thrives in the "next big news", in the new "hot topics", in the "look who's dating who", and "how s/he got so fat", it takes all of your energy to not spiral into the hate, and negativity, and complete maina that comes crashing in every single second of the day. You see, there are millions of reasons to be angry, to be negative, to have a really profund reaction on something, but before you do that, take a step back, look at them, and look at yourself; Do you really want to be the one to add onto that negativity? So ask yourself: Do you feel that you are unkind? Do you feel as if you are spreading hatred with that little comment? When you are calling names to someone who has a different point of view than yours on one topic, how different are you from someone else who called you names while presenting your views on a different topic? Does it make you feel accomplished? It is not hard to see why the human race has become the epitome of hatred, and how humanity seems synonymous with inhumanity. And I am not asking you to not take actions, please take actions, make your voice heard but do so in a way that makes both your heart and conscience content. If every single one of us make a vow to do so than we would not need such negativity in the world. Because at the end, human kind is just another word for people like me and you. And if each person can be a little kinder, a little more gentle, a little more humane, and a little less selfish, perhaps the beautiful world that we dream of might not be too far. Just remember to spread kindness and positivity, even at the face of the worst adversaries, for that is what it means to be a human being. Keep loving us by piling up like, share, follow and comment with your own. We’re on all three major social media platforms.
