We had a follower reach out to us and ask how long they can store seeds for. Well, there is no guarantee that your seeds will last forever however, there are a few ways to increase their lifespan. The main factors we need to acknowledge are: temperature, humidity, and light. These 3 compontents are crutial for control maintenance. Seeds should be kept around 20% humidity, any more the seeds will germinate, any less they will wither. 40 degrees Fahrenheit is the temperature you want to keep the seeds at, which is about the same as the average fridge, just remember opening the door creates a drastic temperature change. Too hot and the seeds will sweat, too cold and the seeds could split which is a natural process in germination. Lastly, the seeds should be kept in a dark area because sunlight will cause the unwanted germination process as well. People have told stories of storing seeds for many and many years with these tips, however professionals only guarentee 5 years with an air tight sealed jar in the fridge, but stranger things have been known to happen. The longest stored seed we have seen planted successfully was approximately 10 years old. Doesn't mean someone couldn't keep them for longer. Who's to say?
