Day one of the challenge created by the incredible @kc-and-co 💙
He had been fairly docile when entering the airport. Despite Akira being a very level headed individual, he still felt somewhat nervous when presenting the fake muggle passport, holding in a breath as the woman behind the counter checked the data. He could do it in a normal magical environment, however being thrust in the unknown was not something he enjoyed. Despite her explaining how things went, what was expected and so on, he still felt unprepared for everything.
When going through the scanner and checking in the bags, he cursed inside his head since he was not allowed to carry any weapons, Talia explaining that even a normal metal nail file would be taken away from them since it was considered dangerous. Not that he could not kill a man with a nail file, if anything it was a rather easy affair, however he felt somewhat naked without any weapons at hand. Far too light if you asked him. At least the wand was not a problem, but that was in his bag, boxed up neatly as if it was a souvenir from the countless giftshops he learned were present at the airport.
He considered the name “duty free” redundant, those were some expensive items, despite his lack of knowledge when it came to Muggle money. His mood improved somewhat when Talia bought a whiskey bottle, the type he liked, but that quickly went south when she mentioned he was not allowed to drink too much on a plane or misbehave.
“If they suspect anything they are allowed to land the plane in another location and kick you out.”
Frowning, he crossed his hands over his chest, growing impatient with each passing second “I don’t know for the life of me why I agreed to this.”
“Don’t look so down, it’s good to experience new things and besides, no one would search for us here. If there’s one thing no one would believe is the fact that Akira Crane is flying on a plane.”
“I don’t even believe it.” He still thought that there was a portkey or anything along those lines inside that vast airport, but when he was walking towards the plane, all hopes were shattered. He almost growled at the stewardess that flashed him a bright smile, welcoming him onboard, Talia keeping a straight face, trying not to laugh.
When she made him squeeze in to sit at the window, Akira felt as if there was no air inside the small airplane, all means of escape blocked when the door closed shut. Pulling out some gum, Talia placed in his hand two pieces, telling him to chew as it would help with the pressure in his ears once the plane went up.
There were too many people, chatting away as if everything was normal, Talia blending in without a problem. Akira however hated that he did not know what the person behind him was carrying, or what the intentions of the man next to Talia were as they engaged in small talk.
He hated the sinking feeling in his stomach when the plane took off, Akira closing his eyes as he tried to take a deep breath in but couldn’t. The tension in his body was evident, hands coiled to tight first, Talia thinking he would actually rip off the armrest if he continued to feel like that. A hint of worry clouded her eyes as she looked at him, Akira flinching when she placed her hand on top of his.
“Focus on me.”
Opening his eyes, he glared “I loathe you.” He whispered while pulling his hand away. He wanted out, he wanted off the wretched plane that she made him board. He hated being stuck without a way out. Placing her head on his shoulder, Akira let out a low growl, Talia covering it up with a soft laugh.
“Once we can take the seatbelts off, I will order a couple of drinks.” Once more she reached out for his hand, fingers interlocking “It’s only a couple of hours my dear and once we land you can do what you want.”
“I’d prefer to do what I wanted now. I can’t drink, I can’t smoke, I can’t leave.” Lifting her head, he turned to look at her “I’ll make you pay for this.”
“Now, now.” Caressing his cheek with her free hand she smiled softly “I know you don’t like this, but it’s safer this way. My methods work so give me some credit.” As the plane rattled slightly, Akira threw his arm around her, looking around as if someone was about to attack them “It’s alright, it’s just turbulence, nothing will get to us.”
Making him look at her, their foreheads touched, Talia closing her eyes for a few moments as she cupped his cheeks thanking him. He hated admitting it to her, but her touch was comforting, her eyes calming, certainty swimming in them. She knew what she was doing, despite his reluctance in agreeing with her plans. He felt some of the tension in his muscles leaving him when her lips briefly pressed against his, Akira letting out a soft sigh “I’m never doing this again.”
Chuckling, Talia replied “You do know we have return tickets as well right?”
Blinking a few times, he whispered softly “I hate you so much right now.”
