So I'm doing a thesis on the personality trait of openness, cognitive flexibility and trust in AI.
And my two predictor variables are significantly positively correlated in the literature... not super super correlated but it's there. Same with openness and trust in AI...
But when I run a standard multiple regression with trust as the outcome variable.... that correlation becomes negative. And the value is the same.... ? But now neg?
I've been looking up stuff trying to understand if I've fucked up.( I've run it several times, it's always the same).
The explanations I've found make sense in the context of their examples, but I can't wrapped my head around how it works for my variables.
My partial correlations with trust are positive still... how does that work?
If trust value is fixed.... but cog flex increases by one unit, openness goes down by .3...
