Re-Reading "Hortus de Escapismo" to see how bad the anti-Sarkaz racism is

It's pretty bad, but someone was trying to tell me that this event was proof that Laterans agreed with Oren's actions.

No, Oren himself says to an enraged Lemuen, "You're angry that I violated the purity of your faith. That proves you're thinking as a Lateran." In other words, his actions would be considered heinous to his people.

Oren admits that even if he had the authority to deploy 50 soldiers in secret without needing to get anyone's permission or explain himself, he could never get away with ordering the massacre of a bunch of civilian Sarkaz. He was desperately hoping to find or manufacture some excuse that even the pope wouldn't be able to challenge.

The soldiers arrived after Executor did, so they had not spent any time scouting the abbey and seeing the true nature of "the enemy" as a bunch of starving refugees. Oren almost certainly lied to them to get them eager to kill 'enemy Sarkaz combatants' to 'liberate hostage Lateran citizens'. They were operating off of intel from Oren and from Spuria.

(Spuria agreed to help Oren, but she's constantly threatening to sell him out because he did NOT properly inform her what the situation actually was, and she does NOT want to go down with him.)

Once Lemuen and Executor catch Oren, he confesses to everything in a last, desperate bid to convince them to let him carry out the attack.

When they refuse to let him murder the Sarkaz, Oren gives up. He has no faith he can defeat Lemuen and Executor, and any resistance would only make his punishment worse.

arknights favourite operators ask: name 3 operators per class that you love and adore (for their character design, story, or gameplay) p.s. for the sake of celebrating personal favourites more, I suggest excluding big story characters like Amiya, Kal'tsit, Raidian, Suiblings, Exusiai etc. there are a lot of characters in this game and these in particular have their time to shine, let's talk about others as well! it's just a suggestion though!

Ayoo! Since I'm currently making a video about my personal favourite male operator in each class I might as well dedicate this to just the women. For spoiler reasons and also for women loving reasons.

Vanguards

Kestrel, I just liked her design at first and then her operator files hit me over the head and actually made me tear up. Please give it a read she genuinely needs more appreciation. I initially got her because of a nicheknights idea I had but then I got really attached to using her. I like Pioneer Vanguards for their straightforwardness and she's the epitome of straightforward. She hit good and she make DP yay. I just have a soft spot for her and am so mad that more people don't talk about her waaaa

Fang, heads up, my Who Is Lingering bias will be unashamedly showing this entire list. Now I may not be as attached to her as Kroos, Lava and Hibiscus but I do like how she haunts them somewhat while being alive alongside Beagle. Team A1's spiritually dead wives. Aside from that I also just like playing with her as a charger operator. Is she just a 5 star version of Bagpipe? Yeah. But I like her!

Saga, I do feel a little bad that she gets excluded when I talk about the Who Is Lingering crew lmao especially since I do love her character! Least ragebaitable person there is just due to the amount of whimsy she allows in her heart. How could you hate that. She's also still satisfying to use especially with her SP thing.

Guards

Matoimaru, I've always loved her. I really like the gap moe of her being a warrior and a flower arrangement artist and she also helped me a lot while I was still learning the game. She also just has a sick design and I love how much it changes between her E1 and E2 from something more appropriate (?) for active movement and another that is an elegant yukata. Matoimaru alter pls pls pls

Mousse, meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow-

Utage, Her design always stuck out to me and I swear it's not because of her boobs. I find her colour pallete of purple, yellow and greys very pleasing. She's also a very unique type of soloblade guard to me at least in terms of gameplay. I lack the vocabulary to describe it but I like that she's a soloblade you're meant to play as a dreadnought yanno?

Defenders

Blemishine, Idk if she counts as too story important so I'm probably really threading the line here but I plead ignorance your honour. I do like her whole thing with sleep but the real reason I like her is purely aesthetic reasons. There's just so much story telling about her character between her E1 and E2 that I haven't seen in many other operators since. Her design changing from a practical knight's armour to a whole dress to showcase how much her true calling is off the battlefield? Chef's kiss.

Dur-nar, I'm sentimental about her, she really helped me a lot with the early days of Arknights and she just looks nice. I feel like I should give her a veteran's discount.

Asbestos, 'hurr durr Autumn you only recently started liking her cus of Arts Protector Squad' YEAH? People can always have time to grow and change okay? ALSO, I do just like Arts Protector gameplay in general and I genuinely like her personality. Her tidbit about being knowledgeable about socialising but just preferring to be alone is endearing. I think it's interesting that she's simultaneously always open to learning about other people and cultures in her travels but in contexts where it would make her harder to leave she's more opposed to building those relationships. Very cool, she reminds me of Han Sooyoung from ORV abit.

Snipers

Vermeil, It's so not fair that they didn't give her an alter and abandoned her to give Executor new adopted children. WHAT THE HELL. I want to see her grow up and prove to be a kinder and better person than she ever imagined she was capable of being as a kid!

Kroos, Oh Hi Who Is Lingering again, bnnuy girl trying to hide all the grief and trauma she has by trying to act silly and playful, love that for her. There's no need to explain that her alter is just really good too. I have a personal headcanon that she likes storytelling and is a very passionate DM because of that. I like that she goes from someone so carefree to being the most secretly high-strung person there is, and by 'like' I mean AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-

Ambriel, I've always liked how pink she is but she has a fun personality too! I'm kinda sad she doesn't get brought up in the whole Laterano storyline aside from being a tax evader but maybe that's for the best. I like to imagine she's just not interested in being part of all of that and just wants to laze around, me too.

Casters

Lava, let's get this out of the way first okay. Yes, Who Is Lingering but also! she's a cool rock girl in multiple ways. I like how they handled her chuunibyou-ness as she grew up, as in many of her core principals never really changed, she just changed her approach to things especially after The Incident. And she's still plenty snarky and sarcastic just with an added layer of somberness to it. I like that complexity.

Iris, OH MY GOD IRIS, Please, please HG, do something with her cool Dream Palace lore that isn't tied to an anime collab I'm begging. I just love her so goddamn much holy shit. I love how her design is a stereotypical princess design only for her to be someone genuinely caring towards the children that enter her dream world. I love how it references the importance of escapism for people less fortunate and how it interacts with brutal reality. I love her kit, I love mystic casters. Genuinely, love her so much.

Tecno, If you couldn't tell, I like angry artists that want to improve their community with their art. It's pretty cool to do that me thinks. Design is also super cute, I will always love designs based on alt fashion. She was like the only good part of the second R6S collab lolz

Supporters

Podenco, I don't know how to explain this one, Podenco just kinda makes me happy to look at her. Yeah she's fun to use in IS and her kit is nice but aside from that I would usually be neutral about characters like her. But she makes me :) whenever I see fanart or official art of her. She's just so soft it's hard to be :( when you look at her.

Lucilla, I think she's the prettiest operator ever and people were way too mean about her kit. I also like her personality, she's so genuinely smart and stupid and strange and I like that in a woman.

Mayer, Her dogs are fun and her design is nice. Not much else to say about her except she also has some sentimental value to as one of the first 5 stars I raised tee hee

Healers

Hibiscus, Okay hear me out, Hibiscus to me is so maid+knights core in all but aesthetics. The enduring desire to protect and serve the people she cares about. The way she puts her own life below others. The way she has a gentleness that meets any angry victim and a harshness against those that aim to hurt. Do ya'll see the vision?

Purestream, first time I ever spent for Arknights and she represents how I like the way Arknights involves itself in charities and causes that are important to the devs, whether that be the environment or feeding poor schoolchildren. I think it genuinely means a lot to me to see how the devs at least show us in what ways they're using the game for good and I want to see that culture expand with Endfield.

Tuye, One of the smartest designs for an anime girl camel I've ever seen. 'Oh but Autumn, Whisperain is a better Tuye', Perish. Her healing and shields is good and fun. A tsundere done in a way that I personally prefer, huffing and puffing that she doesn't care about other people while risking her life to save theirs without a word. We're so lucky to have someone so capable and cute-

Specialists

Waai Fu, who doesn't love a martial artist girl with shounen protag energy? This is what happens when you let a child grow around people that genuinely love and care about them. She's also got one of my favourite designs.

Spuria, I wish I could say I only like her for her design as it is very pretty, but unfortunately, I do actually like how her prejudice and actions lead to the destruction of somebody she was supposedly 'helping' and she'll never realise this. Kinda confused that she didn't appear again in The Masses Travel but what can you do? Sometimes you need to like horrible women, it's good for your diet.

Snowsant, can someone please get this girl into a union? This is a gift for her and me at this point. God I love a broke girlfailure with the eternal energy of that sad hamster meme.
