Yuri wouldn't lie to Yor. He would tell them both decided to adopt a child for their goal to break Yor's marriage and marry each other for his scholar future being their informant without he would know. They're not lying, just don't tell all 😂

Headcanons:

• Yuri and Fiona's initial goal in adopting the child is to stay with Yor / Loid respectively, so their "parental love" is completely false. And he knew it.

• By watching them he knew that they're pretending (separate rooms, no PDA or romantic looks etc). He doesn't care, but it's quite sad because he thinks they do a cute couple.

• Yuri will be the first in think "He's my son". Mostly because he's the kindest of both but because he felt identified with the child. He was a child when he lost his parents; unfortunately, the kid was too young so he couldn't met them and he hadn't had anyone who took care of him. An scene like Yor's could happen with her brother "Even if I'm not his biological father...could I be better for him?" Imagine it. It's precious.

• Nightfall should learn from him. Or from Twilight. Or from Yor.

• Maybe she hadn't revealed her identity to the enemy as Yuri. Maybe she's an excellent agent. But she doesn't know how to raise a child.

• Too strict, harsh, cold, she wants her son to win the 8 Stellas ASAP. Calculating that 4 Stellas are given per evaluation, 1 for each student who is in the first place(s) in the midterm exams, would be possible to get eight in less than one year. No one would suspect that he could really achieve that goal if he set his mind to it (no for nothing he's considered a competent spy duh)

• However, someone would talked with her and say that he's only a child and she can't pressure him. Probably that person would be Twilight, he's the one who can convince her, because being Nightfall or being Fiona she listens to him.

• Something like "You can do it, now try to understand this: even if you don't have real emotions towards him, he's a real child who has real feelings. It's not a sprint, do not try to be better using him, try to do it better for him." After a serious/deep talk she could be less harsh.

• And seeing how Yuri, an inexperienced enemy in his twenties, is better, would be another reason. At first she'll be "He's being too soft. We don't have to show true emotions". Few weeks or months living with this bean and she would be "Touch him and you'll be 2 meters underground". Same for Yuri but he'll be like that since the beginning.

• When he's not busy with work, Yuri goes to study with him so he could help him if he has doubts, praising him when he does it fine. The kid doesn't need help, tho his idea of being average means do mistakes and don't try to obtain all the Stellas in a short time we must admit it he likes having Yuri cheering and correcting him as a dad does it.

• Yuri's the cheer type. "Great!" "Good job!" "Don't worry, you'll do it better next time!"

• Yor's so happy for Yuri and Fiona, she'll do her best for her nephew. They can't take care of him today? If her or Loid're not busy too you can bet that the boy's always welcome to the Forgers' home. Loid would say that too.

• Besides, both are happy too because some children ask their parents "Can you give me a sibling?". With a cousin and new friend of her age she could be satisfied.

• Both babies watching Spy Wars and reading the manga (Anya insists bc he hasn't watched/read it before). Playing spies with Bond, thinking how complete the mission "A dog for the Briar family".

• If you're wondering how they conviced the rest of people that a 20 man and a woman who seems young have a biological son of six do not. The only secret which it's not secret is that. He's adoptive, that's why he doesn't look like Yuri or Fiona tho they created false documents saying they married each other one year before Yor and Loid do it and adopted their son months after Loid and Yor celebrated their wedding-
