My mom has discovered the OK Boomer meme.
I appreciate that my mom accepts and understands my hobbies enough to effectively mock them.
So we're discussing the fact that I have a picture of me as the Joker on my Tinder profile and this happened.
I am hopefully reaching a good space with my mom where she’s engaging with #squidsgender in a way that’s comfortable for her, while in exchange she rejoices in the fact that finally, after nearly three decades of her most ardent efforts, I am putting actual effort into my personal appearance and grooming. If anything, I think my increased interest in clothing shopping and hair care products has itself softened the blow immensely.
Mom: You have this beautifully touseled hair that's just long enough, like a man in the 1910s who has deep angst before realizing he's gay and falling in love with another man. And they're at Oxford and write a lot of poetry, and smoke cigarettes, and then they both go off to World War I and die tragically.
Me: You have given a lot of thought to my hair's backstory.
Mom: I read a lot of romance novels. They wear little pants with gaiters and play golf.
My parents aren’t doing great at the Chametz hunt this year.
