I don't know how up to date on the new She-Ra you or Squire are, but I really loved it and would love to get either of yours opinion on it if you would like to share. Adora plays a really good oath of heroism paladin I feel. Although I also feel like by the end I get some oath of ancients vibes too.
*checks where I left off my binge* Just finished Episode 3 of Season 3 of the Netflix series but I know nothing about Master of the Universe outside of that and Skeltor memes. Absolutely agree about Adora. I’m cycling through Princess of Power, ATLA, and Queer Eye for self care watches right now
Could I have some advice? I try to be a positive force to people around me,but it's gotten to a point where if I'm anything other then smiles I'm ridiculed and belittled. Any negative emotion at all is treated as trivial,or a tantrum,or blown way out of proportion and i honestly feel like I'm choking. I try to express these emotions in as calm, healthy way as possible but in the end it's still treated like a joke or they get extremely defensive,I don't know what to do,this is family and friends
Oh my gosh, that is so hard and I really feel for you. The standard advice for this type of situation is just leave because people who don’t let you express negative emotions without judgment are toxic.
This advice isn’t wrong but that advice is hard to follow in the best of circumstances and the current state of the world is decidedly not the best of circumstances.
So what you can do for now is:
a) have a creative outlet to express feelings without judgement. I said in an earlier ask that i journal, but you can also draw/paint or make music or any number of things!
b) get therapy. Betterhelp.com is a site i’ve seen floated around and a lot of podcasts are sponsored by them and give out a coupon code. and a lot of in-person therapists are switching to digital sessions
c) start building an other networks. talk to people in online about whatever your interested in. build a community that gives you some validation. you don’t have to spill your Deep Dark Secrets, but even having someone understand when you mention something annoying about your day can make you feel less alone
I’m rooting for you! Best of luck and hold fast!
A line I feel you would appreciate from a favorite book of mine called The Afterward by E.K. Johnston: "The hardest lesson learned by apprentice knights is that not everyone can be helped. The first lesson is that they should never stop trying."
I read that! It is A Good Book, and I liked it very much. It’s been a few months so I don’t have a full review off the top of my head, but it’s the medieval wlw fantasy novel we all deserve. Link to purchase
My character is so unimportant to the game, it wouldn't matter if I was there. How do I fix this without derailing the DM or making the other players think I'm suddenly an attention whore?
Talk to your DM. I’m willing to bet that they think your style of play is “relax, watch the story play out and roll dice as needed” which it doesn’t seem like it is. Make sure this all isn’t just a miscommunication
As for what you can do, have your character ask NPCs questions and take initiative following plot threads. You can also give your character a goal to pursue that’s not part of the main quest, just make sure not to get sidetracked!
Best of luck!
What are your thoughts on a drow paladin that has given up on fixing drow society and instead dedicates themself to saving as many drow innocents and victims from the cruelties of the culture and getting them out of the dangerous underdark? They couldn't reach those in power with words or steel so they refocused their efforts towards guaranteed good.
I do like it! If I were the DM I would reward the player by some changes being made by drow who were inspired by the PCs example
Me and my girlfriend are making a paladin homebrew subclass, and I was wondering if either squire or paladin would be willing to weigh in on the capstone ability
Well, um, I don’t know what the subclass is themed around or what the other features are. I’ve never actually reached level 20 either. So I’m not sure what would be appropriate
feel free to submit it here when it’s ready!
Show and tell: my new paladin of Pelor is a golden Dragonborn lady. She’s on a quest to track down her rebellious sister and return a sacred sword to her clan. She also sounds like Julie Andrews.
I love her
