i wish the books would’ve expanded on lionblaze and squirrelflight’s relationship more

with Mothpool rev-ing up a bit I’m pretty convinced it’s going to be Mothpool running away to be together next book, especially since it’s a Leafpool POV book and then Hawkfrost after (so we would see the aftermath of Mothwing leaving and coming back to RiverClan which would probably be rife with delightful tension lol) I just feel it makes no sense for SquirrelCrow to leave the clans when yes - relationships with cats from other clans is forbidden - however it doesn’t have that level of completely taboo as a medicine cat in a relationship. Also Squirrelflight is so different from Leafpool - I don’t think I could see her abandoning her Clan, I feel like she would just insist on finding a way to make it work lol

Putting these asks together as I think they're getting at the same thing!

I love reading the theories, but yeah I don't want to confirm anything at this point as they are major plot points of the next fic :)

I will say at least Shaken Roots: Twilight will be a relationship drama-heavy book like canon is, but of course I'll be putting my own spin on things. There is also at least one plot line that is being very heavily changed from canon. (I don't want to say it's necessarily the "biggest" departure from canon yet, since like SquirrelCrow and Mothpool are pretty big shifts in and of themselves. But it's up there.)

i do fucking LOVE that warrior cats team realised how fucking creepy ashfur was and brought him back bc he's a genuinely fucked up and scary antagonist like. he's such a fucking creep to squirrelflight in tbc it’s great it retroactively makes him in the older series feel way more chilling bc the fact he'd be an abusive possessive and just plain terrible partner is shown (and like if you’re an adult reading it it’s pretty obvious theres some pretty dark implications there but unlike how wc normally handles those they’re like. clearly creepy and bad.) and also him extending his abusive tendencies throughout the whole clan basically (including basically grooming two protagonists) is like the scariest progression of that possible like. actually genius idea by the warrior cats team 10/10

Rereading Leafpool’s Wish and Leafpool never once asks Squirrelflight to take her kits, she asks Squirrelflight for help initially, and Squirrelflight promises to do all she can to help but that is it. Yellowfang is the one who lies to her about not being able to have kits and tells her to take the kits, to which Squirrelflight says no, she won’t lie to those she loves forever. The chapter ends before Leafpool can reply.

Leafpool doesn’t even ask Squirrelflight to come with her to go give birth, Squirrelflight chooses on her own to lie about Leafpool requesting she come too. It is Feathertail who manifests and tells Squirrelflight again that she has to take the kits, squirrelflight says again that she will not lie to for the rest of her life. Feathertail keeps pushing and Leafpool says nothing, and this time Squirrelflight relents and agrees to take the kits.
