I bring a nuance to the extremely trendy blindbox toy discourse the internet as a whole does not like.
Like idk man I think y'all suck for demonizing the labubus because trendy or not at the end of a day an actual artist was profiting off of the ones sold from popmart and the fact that their character will forever be seen as this ultra-cringe white person wasteful trend is heartbreaking to me.
I think it sucks that stim objects/toys made for neurodivergent people are bought in bulk by neurotypicals and turned into funny tiktok unboxing trends and then neurodivergent people get mocked for using them the way they were intended to be used by people who think the trend is stupid. I think it also sucks how neurotypicals buying up all the stim toys to make content leaves neurodivergent people unable to buy the ones they wanted to, if they chose they wanted to.
I think y'all suck for treating needohs as the worst most anti-capitalist thing ever and spread all these videos of women getting excited because they got glittery plastic or a rainbow labubu to laugh at them but will never ever ever bat an eye or laugh at a man who goes ballistic over a pair of $1000 dollar sneakers he will never ever wear or alternatively a shiny slice of cardboard with a pikachu printed on it.
I think it sucks how a lot of these toys will end up in a landfill both because it's wasteful and in the labubu's case that's an artist's character who was designed with love.
And I especially think it sucks that the newest trend item is a literal cheap ass dollar store scented squishy plastic blob filled with sludge and people are destroying them out of rage on purpose because they didn't get the "rare" one (but the rage will get them 3000000 tiktok views)
