One of my favorite parts of FFAK is how well developed all of these characters are, and how we can root for people who are both literal and figurative monsters. They're complicated, sad people who are probably villains on a lot of axes, but at the same time, I want them all to win! Even though that would be bad for literally everyone else in most cases.

Aw thank you, im glad! I really try to put an emphasis on what makes a character likable is not because of their Pure and Right and GOOD moral values but more along the lines of if they’re entertaining/interesting. and what i feel makes a character those things is by seeing how they’d react to many situations while still being true to their perspective. I think ffak has characters who consider themselves good, or good guys, who generally want to do the right thing for everyone-- but what they consider success might actually be terrible for other people as well. Maybe people they never considered who would be affected by their “good” actions/intentions. (also, what we consider to be good/acceptable behavior will change overtime so really its a very temporary thing to me??) Also for Knife, who could be easily labeled as an antagonist in a lot of ways, i actually struggle to figure out what alignment would best suit him. Even if you would generally disagree with his quest to destroy his own species, how often have we rooted for heros in other media to do the same to some evil monster force threatening the land? Knife doesn’t even enjoy his task but feels a duty/responsibility to see it through. Even though his complicated reasons for it are not completely revealed, believes it is ultimately the best choice to end the collective suffering and to promote change/growth in the world (as well as hope for a better future.) and beyond that, his quest for closure is something we all want for ourselves too at some point in our lives, even when sometimes it is at the cost of destroying ourselves or our happiness to obtain it. but time goes on regardless, closure or not. anyway, oops, kinda turned this ask to about knife again! glad you enjoy my characters and root for them.

Is that creepy split-hand wright the same one that core-leached poor, cowardly Elan Aled? Or is that bleach blond hair part of the fashion/uniform for the General's personal wrights?

Would it be possible for Knife (or any E-Type, really) to reconnect Scissor and Spoon into one whole Simon? I'd wager neither of them would be particularly excited about the process without long heart to hearts, but if they were, would it be possible?

For the two halves to refuse isn’t technically “impossible” with the assistance of e-types, however, it would require very wild efforts that kind of border close to the lines of deus ex machina kind of shit. only b/c them splitting in half and surviving is... a feat of basically a miracle in itself. So there’s gotta be some amount of consequence from this unreal event. y’kno what i mean? so.. like.. I won’t say it will or will not happen in the story, but for the simons to refuse to be what he was before he split apart is absolutely not happening. There would be major problems and might even not be worth it anymore to attempt that.So for it to be possible the certain kinds of requirements.-Both willing participants that originally were the same hekaton. this means no fusion dances with other hekatons. -A sacrifice of personal values, meaning, their emotional growth during the time they spent apart and personal morals might end up being lost or are otherwise flexible because they would be fusing back with the mind of their other self. to explain that more clearly, lets say one simon was able to make progress on controlling some obsessive habit or dealing with his anger in a healthier way, he might not have that skill anymore and would be worse with it again after fusing, but would still have the memory and experiences of knowing he could do it. so he would have to re-learn with the added memories and potentially conflicted issues brought on by the other half. which would probably cause a lot of internal blaming and frustration to not accommodate the one who is ‘dragging' things down. so yeah. lots of self love/patience would be needed.-scissor would have to give up his dick gun. actually probably the largest issue is that, scissor might not be able to survive being un-cyborged. the changes done to his body was very severe and he is unable to shapeshift anymore. he probably should have stayed a half leg if he ever wanted a chance to refuse. -To go along the lines of the thing above with the sacrificing of personal values, simon probably would experience memory loss or very rapid mood swings between the two halfs of himself. He’s already a very emotionally intense person who has rapid mood swings, so having two of them rapidly mood swinging together would kind of be a disaster. I don’t know if simon would have the patience with himself, hed probably end up giving up and re-splitting in half in a meltdown if he was left unattended. so like IF HE HAD... CONSTANT OUTSIDE MONITERING ATTENTION (which im sure would be possible with his robot best friend 4 lyfe) as he slowly re-adjusted (which could take years lmao) then .......maybe he’d...... yeah see where things start to crash and burn?

I do think him re-fusing would be interesting and i’ve obviously thought about it at great lengths, even to figure out how it COULD be possible. but it just does not seem like a, um, a super duper wonderful route. and besides scissor would probably be insistent they split apart because now they can have threesomes with knife.

I'm very worried Knife has spoiled his reunion with half-of-Simon with a lightning harpoon right to Simon's hekaton-meat-half. I'm on the edge of my seat with this beautifully drawn chase sequence!

Thanks! I also appreciate everyone’s patience as I draw this thing out super slowly compared to my normal speeds. I’ve been due for an art break for a long time. lol. (which is often difficult with my long chapters and update style.)

Fork's eponymous fork presumably is a mandragora worm heart (rather than a synthetic one, which you've said are comparatively crummy). Has he met the heart's self yet? It seems likely since he's apparently super good at using it as a tuning fork to read minds, but who knows?

Fork hasn’t met it. :( And it is a real heart! However, its in an even deeper sleep than crimson’s hearts. I think it might be because it doesn’t want to wake up, or more specifically, it doesn’t want to be noticed. Fork also is unaware its sentient/alive at all, so being oblivious of that fact makes it harder to realize its living even though Fork is very skilled at using it. FUN FACT: The fork weapon is also not nearly as old as the spoon/knife. but yeah.... Maybe they will meet one day! >:)c

FYI that recent Utensil Family comic was great. I'm very interested in seeing more bittersweet adventures with Fork and his evil dads.

I have a question about Celadon's manifestation from Chapter 9. The red arm with the stolen/white eye is Celadon #1, right? Who's the white arm with the red eye? Is it Crimson's Heart, ganging up on our poor queen with whatever Celadon is?

The white arm with the red eye is still Celadon #1! Crimson’s heart is Crimson. They are one in the same, even if Crimson doesn’t believe that.Celadon was taking control over Crimson’s heart. It is quite easy to do, since Crimson still cares a lot about the shitty triangle alien helper thing.

What happens if Locket had spiked up Fork's bottom half??? It's vaguely alive right now. Would it be a whole new Hekaton?

perhaps some mysteries.. are better left unsolved…..

(for the record, it is semi alive but i wouldnt ..call it sentient. if left alone for too much longer it will likely implode too. Although Fork’s timer is currently inside his upper torso. So it wouldnt be that big of an explosion.)

Really though even with locket’s help, I am not sure how much you can do. As powerful and great as Locket’s regenerating skills are, making a whole new timer is kind of.. like.. might be a little too much. (Which would be vital for the lower half.)
