Tears of Themis: Ignite event cards

Ignite isn’t really the literal translation of the actual event name, 燃动潮流夜， but I’m running low on creativity now so I can’t think of a good translation which wouldn’t sound weird in Eng.

Anyway. 

Yay to a free SR for Zuo Ran ❤️  I like the bylines for Xia Yan’s card the most though.

Xia Yan: 

“If the road ahead of us is destined to be scattered with thorns, then I’ll walk down it with you, no matter what storms or obstacles we may face. As long as we have yet to reach our destination, there isn’t a fait accompli to life.”

“Everyone has selfish desires. Especially when it comes to the people most important to them.”

Zuo Ran:

“I never back down from a challenge. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely win.”

“Because that is the flavour you like most, and I want to understand all that you like.”

Mo Yi: 

“You were the one who gave me the courage to challenge myself, so my performance today does not only belong to me... This performance belongs to, and is also dedicated to you.”

“I hope you will like this.”

Lu Jinghe: 

“Boundless surprises, miracles appear. How’s this, have I become more handsome?”

“It’s merely that I’ve become more sensitive to your every movement.”

Translation Notes: 

Lu Jinghe’s first line was in particular hard to translate, and I feel like I didn’t do a good job in capturing the catchiness of his original line in Chinese, “惊喜无限，奇迹出现”. In the original line, both halves of the sentence are four characters each, and the last character of each half has the same pronunciation “xiàn”. I wanted to find a synonym for surprises that rhymes with appear, but failed. The best I could do was to ensure that there were five syllables in each half, and even so I couldn’t capture the “pleasant” aspect of the phrase “惊喜”。 “Boundless pleasant surprises” would have ruined the symmetry of the sentence.
