#Repost @heliophoeli • • • • • Being part Native American myself going to Matta was very special to me.From my mother's side of the family my ancestors are native americans from Peru. I joined @tiffanythefoodstylist on another food adventure to the wonderful village of Matta. There we met 2 amazing women that opened their homes to us for the weekend. It was amazing to see how cassava bread is made from the poisonous bitter cassava, and cooking up some PepreWatra to eat it with was the highlight of the trip. A lot of hard work and love went into the dishes we made and with our bellies full we connected with nature and felt blessed for all it gives us. We spent the night underneath the stars sharing stories and nibbling on some Cassava bread. The next day we headed to Sranan Watra for an ice cold dip in the dark waters Suriname is Also known for. We ended our trip feeling happier than we could have imagined. Traveling and connecting with people and nature is one of life's biggest gifts. Ps.
