Now I've been cruising in the Teen Wolf fandom for what feels like forever, so I've seen all kinds of stupidity, but tonight really took the cake. Tell me why I found a blog post titled 'Stiles, Malia and Consent' which is basically a Stydia fan desperately trying to bash Malia as a character and her relationship with Stiles, by saying they're not far from Derek and Kate.

I can't... get out.

You're comparing a pedophile and her "relationship" with a teenage boy to Stiles and Malia?! I've seen some pretty desperate shit when it comes to people hating on Stalia, like the arguments about her being abusive because she marked up his back after sex (clearly those stydia fans were sheltered virgins or something, cause idk what to tell you, but that's pretty common when the sex is good)... but to go to the length that this person did is unreal.

I know they're a Stydia fan because the first several paragraphs of this so-called "revelation" was comparing the string scene between stydia to the highlighter scene with Stalia.

The person had the audacity to say Stalia are an abusive relationship not only that, but that Teen Wolf were deliberately showcasing an abusive relationship like theirs to spread awareness and to teach a lesson in setting boundaries.

Otherwise, I pretty much cackled at the rest of the post, like how they are convinced the highlighter scene and the reason why Stiles kissed Malia, was really him remembering the string moment with Lydia and he "transferred his feelings" to Malia. Like... do I need to spell it out? Are people really that delusional and blinded by what they WANT to happen? Stiles kissed Malia because he was touched that she had looked at his board and copied him, to learn. Because she learns almost everything human-related from him. And that is adorable, the fact that she has so much trust in him, that she believes his methods and his way of thinking are the best. This is further reinstated when Malia and Derek are together episodes later and are trying to find Satomi and her pack, but are failing. So Malia suggests they should think like Stiles, like a detective.

I hate to think it, but I do truly think Stydia fans use the "Malia is an unwanted feral child" argument (which is bullshit) to prove and say that she's an abuser. She lived in the woods for years, surviving, traumatised, and that means she's incapable of forming a pure, loving connection with someone... do they not realise how ugly that sounds? Other female characters (Lydia and Allison) go through traumatic stuff and to Stydia fans, they're precious, angel babies... but if it's Malia or Kira... there's no hope for them and they're awful people who should be kept away from Scott and Stiles... okay.

If we're gonna talk about consent and abuse in Teen Wolf... okay, let's do it. What about this scene?

A lot of Stydia fans love to use this quote, so I thought I'd use it. After this quote however, the rest of the scene isn't so funny, like the show plays it off as -- because clearly some fans can't see that Teen Wolf isn't smart enough to do a commentary on something that serious, at least not correctly.

See, what this blogger has failed to mention in their "woke" post about Stalia and consent, is that Lydia wasn't giving consent in this scene. She's laying on her bed, doped up on prescription medication for her traumatic experience and she can't even get past the first word of a tongue-twister AND YET, Stiles is let into her bedroom (despite Lydia not knowing who he is) and he continues to let her touch him, gets excited and aroused when she puts her head onto his thigh, and then when she asks him to sit on her bed and continues to further touch his arms, neck and face, he is leaning forward. The only reason why he stops this, is because she says "Jackson" because that's who she thinks he is. If she hadn't, who knows what could've happened? Stiles was delusional enough at this point to think he was in love with her, that they were destined to be together... so maybe he would have violated her. No doubt, it would've been played off as comedy in the show and Stydia fans would've remained blind to the wrongness of it.

I mean, the literal foundation of Stydia is a lack of consent, stalking, talking to each other like shit and an unhealthy obsession from his side.

He knows her exact height, for fuck's sake. You wanna know what my meta is for that, even though I know jackshit about the criminal justice system, especially in the US... I believe Lydia was written up into the criminal justice system for something car-related once, something petty, something she got after first getting her license. It was something that she could've gotten away with because she was well-known and more than financially stable. When Stiles heard about it, he looked through his father's files or went onto the computer in the station and found it. He got personal information about Lydia from that... and if that isn't a possibility, then he got all his information by stalking her and listening into her conversations.

When the winter formal comes around, Stiles yells at her to get up and dance with him, despite her saying 'no' already.

Not to mention, Lydia kissed him when he was having a panic attack over the idea of his father dying in a supernatural sacrifice. I could go on, I could even make mountains out of molehills like this person did.

So, to this person, check yourself before you start throwing those kinds of words and ideas around about Malia, like comparing her to Kate Argent, a mass-murderer and predator.
