Short circuit 2 premiered on July 6 1988. The robot Johnny 5 went to the city where criminals wanted to take advantage of him. Tim Blanely returned as the voice of Johnny Five and Fisher Stevens as Ben (in the last movie, the last name was Jabituya changed to Jahveri), but Steve Guttenberg passed on coming back as Newton Crosby. SS Wilson and Brent Maddock returned as writers as well. This was Jack Weston's last film. ("Short Circuit 2" Film Event)

What better way to announce this year's Tremors: PerfectionFest than with a FAN FILM CONTEST.

That's right. One lucky winner will get to have their film shown at this year's PerfectionFest being held in Lone Pine, California. All the greats who made Tremors the monster it is will be in attendance and get to see YOUR film. What a thing to happen right as Stampede Entertainment reacquires the rights to Tremors. Deadline for submissions will be October 3, 2025, a full month before the start of the festival. You don't have to attend to win. This contest is open to EVERYONE across the world.

Under 96 minutes

Deadline for submission is October 3rd

Rated PG-13 or under

Original ideas only - No shot-for-shot remakes. A twist on the original concept is fine though. Any genre is accepted. Animated, stop motion, live action, etc are all fine.

Must be shot horizontally, preferably in 16:9 format.

Voting will be done by social media audience participation with extra points awarded by judges.

Appropriate credits given to the specific creators work used.

Either a Graboid, Shrieker, Assblaster or Mixmaster must be used in the production

The movie Short Circuit premiered on May 9 1986. The movie was about a military robot in the S.A.I.N.T. series (Strategic Artificially Intelligent Nuclear Transport) that was struck by lightening and became sentient. He escaped from the military, changed his name from Number Five to Johnny Five, and became friends with Stephanie (Ally Sheedy). Fisher Stevens played Ben Jabituya, a character of Indian ancestry. He has since said he wouldn't have played the role if offered now and would encourage it to be played by someone of actual Indian heritage. Instead of stop motion or CGI, the film relied on puppetry and practical effects. The theme song "Who's Johnny" was the debut single of El DeBarge. It was his only number one single after leaving DeBarge. ("Short Circuit" Film Event)
