He takes one more glance at the watch—noting how it looks the exact same day he discovered it. His stomach twists in knots when he sees faint splatters of blood on the black box. Blood that came from his own hands. Blood that belonged to the man that raised him. You deserved it, Atsushi thinks, then in the next beat it’s a storm of emotions. Fuck you and I hate you and I miss you and I’m sorry and I’ve failed you and I’d kill you all over again if I could— He shudders. Holding the watch in a closed fist, he transforms his claw and hears the glass shatter. He doesn’t look as he lets the watch drop to his mattress, immediately getting out of bed with the empty box to leave in Mori’s infirmary.
or: sometimes atsushi has to go around in circles to realise he wants to live, and fight, and work with a mortal enemy. (ft. time loops, a lot of death, a freaky watch, general sskk weirdness, and atsushi holding many jobs until he finds out what works)
