Creatures of Jorvik
Deer-Horse Edition
These creatures are deer-like horses, carrying both horse and deer features. These rare creatures are found only in Jorvik and can be domesticated to be ridden or to pull carriages/sleighs. The Kalters heavily use these creatures in their daily life.
Often times, Deer-Horses are often used to support the possibility of other mythical creatures existing. After all, if these strange creatures exist, surely other mythical creatures can be found on Jorvik - at least the horse ones anyway.
Unlike horses, these creatures have cloven hooves and have seasonal antlers, like deer. Males can grow antlers, females can not. Earik females, however, do have antlers. There are several different species.
HJORTENSIA
Very similar to chital (spotted) deer, these deer-horses live in mountain forests, typically found in the Valley of the Frozen Mist or Winter Valley.
They have dark red to rusty red coats with a white mane and tail. They have spotted backs even as adults.
They are easily startled but very sociable.
FAWNCY
They live in woodlands, typically in the Wildwoods, Mistfall Forest or Hollow Woods. They can be found in Winter Valley too.
With reddish brown coats in the spring and summer months and grayish brown coats in the fall and winter months, these deer-horses are reminiscent of white-tailed deer. They have a white mane and tail, with white underbellies. As younglings, they have spotted backs.
They are incredibly shy and easily startled.
EARIK
Favourited by the Kalters, these deer-horses live in the winter mountain regions, like Valley of the Hidden Dinosaur, Valley of Frozen Mist and Winter Valley.
Their coats vary from off-white to dark brown coats, having white manes and tails. Both genders carry antlers, much like caribou.
They are intelligent, curious and very sociable.
