REVIEW: Cheese fondue at St Moriz, Soho, London.

Myself and the old chap have wanted to go for a cheese fondue for so long, when we first started dating we would indulge in a cheese board or two and we both have a big love for cheese so when we saw it on a program a few years ago our mouths had been watering ever since and it had been something on the ol' bucket list for both of us!

The wonderful thing about living in London is that you can do almost anything you want to do as we have everything on our doorstep, especially when it comes to gastronomy. In fact one of the main things I missed about living in London when I moved away was the fact that you can get any type of cuisine from all over the world whenever you like and it is destined to taste authentic as there is so much choice and so many people from all around the world making it how their mama' taught them! Ha!

So, as it was the boys birthday a few weeks ago I decided to book us a table at St Moriz, there are a few places you can go for a cheese fondue in london (see here) but I decided on St Moriz because, it had lots of positive reviews and it looked so pretty and cute in the photos!

When we arrived St Moriz did not disappoint, the venue itself is very aesthetically pleasing, It is a renovated old townhouse which makes it super cosy and homely. The added swiss-esque decor such a wheels and bells tie it all together perfectly too. I love venues that have been built out of previous homes. There are lots of bars and eateries like this in Norwich that I love too, there is something so quaint and perfect about this style of venue and it is most definitely a winner for me!

The service at St Moriz was fabulous! We had a young blonde lady serve us and she was extremely sweet and graceful. All the staff seemed professional, presentable and friendly and you really can't ask for much more than that!

So, the cheese fondue itself; well we were rather cheesed out before we had even begun as the whole place smells like cheese and it was one of the cases of tasting via smell first (If you know what I mean, I hope you do). We chose the melted gruyere and vacherin cheese fondue and had potatoes and bread to accompany it. All the cheese fondues are made with white wine and we were drinking red swiss wine so I think we should have maybe gone with a white wine but nevertheless the wine we had was delicious anyway. The melted cheese itself was also delicious, If I could have that as a side dish with all my meals I most definitely would! In hindsight both my boyfriend and I agreed that we would have chosen a different dunking selection as that's part of the fun of trying it in the fondue, we would have liked to try a mix of vegetables, meats and breads but instead it was just bread and new potatoes.

I am under the impression that a cheese fondue is a once in a lifetime meal, I can't imagine doing it on a regular basis simply because you get very cheesed out and it isn't a particularly nutritiously pleasing meal, however, I did enjoy trying it out very much and I am glad I finally got to do so as it is actually number 4 in my 24 things bucket list! Yay!

Well done St Moriz for your fantastic venue, wine, staff and menu! I am very glad we have discovered this beautiful, quaint little place as we will be returning in the near future, preferably not for the cheese fondue again as I think I have had enough cheese for a while, but I have heard they do the best rosties outside of Switzerland...
