Is it just me or does Stacy's design feel like she's trying to emulate Lia (the IT Girl) without it working out for her the way it does for Lia, or am I looking for parallels where there are none again?
I visited another fandom and saw people doing OTP questionnaires, so I figured I would try doing that for a ship I like! Meaning Stacy x Liam, because I’m in the mood for them today.
(Questions 1-17 are from @/verybearlyawake’s question list, and questions 18-24 are from @/lavenderotpprompts’s question list)
Who initiates hugs?
Both of them can be kind of clingy. A straight-up hug will probably be initiated by Stacy, since Liam is more prone to just draping himself over her from behind or resting his head on her shoulder. Once, Stacy attempted to run into his arms and dramatically hug him like she was in one of her rom-coms, but she may have slightly overestimated Liam’s strength, and they only very narrowly avoided falling backwards into the snow. Liam now asks she give him a warning before she dramatically runs into his arms.
2. Who wants to hold the hug longer?
Like I said, they are both kind of clingy, so Stacy will probably hold it longer and take in the feeling of having someone to hold, while Liam happily lets her.
3. Who borrows the other’s phone charger?
While Stacy is more prone to forgetting her own charger, Liam is definitely the one who uses his phone more, so he’s probably the one who does the most borrowing.
Stacy mostly reads in her free time, but Liam spends a lot of his time texting and doomscrolling and watching twitch streams and going down fucked-up Wikipedia rabbit holes…In the end, you can see why he’d need the charger more, haha. I feel like Stacy would be able to get him hooked on horror novels eventually, though.
4. Who loses their keys/wallet?
Stacy loses things the most, somehow something is always falling behind furniture or hiding just out of sight, and it can take her a while to find things.
Liam is weirdly organized, so he loses things less. When he does end up misplacing something, he usually asks Stacy where he should look. Her experience usually allows her to guess where the item ended up on her first or second try. She always feels very proud whenever Liam seems impressed by this, and she’s decided that he doesn’t need to know why she’s so good at it yet…Though he’ll probably find out pretty fast, after she forgets her phone on a table or at the park during one of their dates.
5. Who’s better with money?
Stacy is a bit more prone to impulse-buying things, usually books. She always convinces herself that she’s being financially responsible while she’s doing it, too, only to realize later that she just spent over a hundred dollars and her bank account isn’t looking so good.
Liam, by contrast, spends a lot less, but the things he does spend money on are infinitely more stupid than books, so in the end one can’t help but feel that Stacy is making better investments. His non-stupid purchases are usually video games.
If I had to name who’s more financially responsible overall…Maybe Liam, though I feel like he could easily convince himself to spend too much money on Stacy, if his willingness to spend money on that twitch streamer was anything to go by. So they end up being pretty even.
6. Who tried to hide the relationship from their parents?
After the whole “Stacy’s Mom” incident, I feel like Stacy would definitely be hesitant to let Liam actually meet her mother (we’re going to assume Liam apologized heavily for that, by the way, and that he was just saying it to piss Henry off…Otherwise we’re avoiding a very big elephant in the room haha).
Stacy really appreciates Liam’s honesty, but sometimes his social filtering is extremely faulty in a way that she worries may make her mom force her to promise to never talk to Liam ever again. So Liam probably only meets her mom after many dates, a lot of prepping, and Stacy spending over a hour making sure he knows what to never bring up in front of her. It ends up going fairly well! At least compared to all the nightmare scenarios Stacy had been imagining.
7. Who’s better in the kitchen?
While much messier, Stacy is a lot better at baking than Liam. Liam got used to having friends who were woefully incompetent in the kitchen, (Drew and Henry regularly burnt water and nearly caught his toaster on fire), so he was very relieved to see Stacy seemed to even somewhat know what she was doing. He’s a little better at some cooking skills, but he is staunch in his belief that Stacy makes the best chocolate chip cookies he’s ever tasted. She has to guard the batter to make sure he doesn’t eat it all (she usually ends up faltering in her duties and lets him be a “taste-tester”).
8. Who needs/gets more sleep?
Liam can and will sleep for twelve hours a day if you let him. Stacy usually does not let him, because she likes to wake up early. She’ll invite him to morning coffee dates a lot because she knows he won’t get out of bed until 1pm otherwise.
Liam usually has to force Stacy to go to bed at night, though, because if she’s in the middle of a good chapter of her book, she can’t simply go to sleep. Nonsense. Preposterous. Malarkey. Balderdash. Other words that mean no way she’s going to put down her book any time within the next hour. Or at least she won’t unless Liam bribes her with cuddles.
9. Who’s more laidback and who’s more hard-working?
As I’m sure you can guess, Liam is more laidback, and Stacy is more hard-working. Stacy has a job at the library, and Liam has one…Somewhere else, my headcanon for that changes a lot, but for now we’ll say he has a job at the movie theater. Stacy definitely has more passion for her job, she thinks she probably wants to work as a librarian after college. Liam likes his job fine, but has no real plans to go back to it after high school. Stacy will put in extra hours for the hell of it, but Liam will only work extra because he likes money.
Outside of her actual job, Stacy is still more of a perfectionist than Liam in her day to day activities, including schoolwork. All her work is triple-checked for spelling errors and she labors over her math homework for excessive amounts of time in order to try to half-decently understand anything on it (She usually doesn’t succeed. Math is an endless desert void of meaning to her.)
Liam, meanwhile, gets all his work done, but the actual quality of his work varies wildly depending on the activity. He will work extremely hard to 100% a game he likes, but he can absolutely not muster up the energy to put more than 70~% of his effort into most schoolwork. When he’s emptying the dishwasher, all the utensils musts be sorted and stacked in very specific ways, or else he will become extremely annoyed. But did he do any of the problems on his English homework correctly? Probably not, most of his answers make zero sense, but it’s for completion anyways so who cares (English is an endless desert void of meaning to him).
In the end, they usually help each other actually complete the assignments they have in their weaker subjects, and it saves Stacy a lot of extra work time and Liam a lot of last-minute cramming.
10. Who has more empathy?
As I'm sure you're expecting, Stacy wins this one. Liam is pretty understanding and empathetic towards his friends, I think, as long as they communicate clearly to him what they're going through. But I feel like most of that empathy only extends to his friends and no one else. Stacy's empathy would probably be more universal.
(Liam immediately forfeits this one for bullying two people for years all while showing little to no remorse lol. I doubt you really need me to explain further).
11. If they were to adopt a pet together, what kind of pet would it be?
Well, considering they're in high school, I don't think they can just decide to legally adopt a pet, haha. But I do headcanon that Liam has a cat and Stacy has a dog. Liam's cat, Fish, loves Stacy, and Stacy would absolutely adopt her if she could. Similarly, Stacy's dog, Cookie, loves Liam. Unfortunately, Liam is terrified of dogs, which became very obvious to Stacy immediately, despite his best attempts at hiding it. For these reasons, if they could adopt a pet, it would probably be a cat.
12. Who is more outgoing?
Despite being a popular guy, Liam doesn’t seem to actually talk to a lot of people, and he can be pretty quiet. Stacy seems to have a lot more confidence talking to people she doesn’t know super well, given the whole Luke-confession-thing. So I think it would probably be Stacy.
13. What is their love language?
Stacy has done a lot of research into love languages and will go on long tangents about how they’re pseudoscience whenever asked about them. Liam doesn’t totally understand what she’s talking about, but tries to be supportive anyways. So all five, I guess, haha.
14. Are they holding any secrets from each other?
Stacy probably doesn’t really want to get into the intricacies of how she failed to ask out Luke. Once she does finally bring it up, Liam probably just says that it was good of her to have the guts to try and that he respects that a million times more than whatever the hell some of his friends have been doing. If she’s still sad, he’ll start joking about how at least it led to her ending up with someone much better-looking, which starts up some banter that seems to cheer her up.
Liam, meanwhile, tries to make sure Stacy never finds out about his scene phase, only to be predictably foiled by Henry. If he ever does agree to show her photos, she looks at them and immediately tries to encourage him by complimenting his old makeup, asking if he can help her learn to do winged eye shadow sometime.
15. Which one is more likely to cheat?
Stacy would absolutely never consider it. I’m choosing to believe Liam never would either, but let’s be honest, realistically there will never be a situation where two people are romantically interested in him at once anyways. With his track record, just one person is pretty impressive, haha.
16. Which one first brings up the idea of having kids?
They are juniors in high school, so uh. Hopefully neither.
17. Who sleeptalks?
Probably neither of them. But Stacy moves around a lot in her sleep, so she’s almost always on the opposite side of the bed from where she started by morning.
18. What would they describe as their perfect date?
Stacy would love something super romantic, like a romantic picnic looking out towards the sunset, or a day jam-packed with different activities like aquariums and roller-skating and such. Liam would much rather have a peaceful night where they cook dinner, watch a movie, and eat too much junk food, but he’s willing to do all of Stacy’s romantic stuff if that’s what she wants. He makes it his job to cheer her up whenever she inevitably gets sad about something not going exactly the way she imagined it.
19. Who made the first move?
It’s a toss-up. I feel like it would probably be one of those things where both of them are prepared to ask the other out and then one of them happens to pull the trigger first. Probably Stacy, I feel like Liam would get surprisingly nervous once the person he wants to ask out is someone he actually likes.
20. Which member calls the other in to kill the spiders?
Luckily, Liam’s vampire-ness makes him a friend to all creepy, crawly creatures, so he is able to capture the spiders and banish them to the outside world. Stacy can kill the spiders if she really needs to, but only after giving herself a pep-talk in the mirror for a few minutes.
21. What’s one way their personalities compliment one another? (Is it opposites attract or are they pretty similar?)
I think the stereotypical innocent girl x creepy vampire dynamic being present on the surface is very silly. Especially since I feel like Liam’s surprisingly trusting and optimistic like Stacy, so they’d end up being pretty similar overall. However, their stances on romance, those being “living life like it’s a rom-com” and “self-admittedly having basically zero understanding of romance or how to be romantic” are opposites. So I think that that mixture of similarities and differences, with Liam being more grounded in certain areas and Stacy being more knowledgeable in others, helps them balance each other out.
22. Who is constantly cold?
Liam. Vampires are designed to be wearing three to four layers of extravagant clothing at all times. So Stacy is usually the one to try to romantically give her jacket to him, even if it’s too small.
23. Who would be able to talk their way out of a speeding ticket?
Neither. They are both complete social disasters who can and will mess up most human interactions. Stacy tries complimenting the person. Liam tries to tell a very bad joke. Both attempts are miserable failures.
24. Who’s more likely to laugh at their own jokes?
Both. They’re both dorks who think they have a great sense of humor, even if no one else thinks so.
