Brazilian rosewood stain.
Here is a little video demonstrating how I use rit powdered dye to dye wood. I wet the wood then sand with 320, 400, then I pour a bit of dye on a paper towel and spritz with water. Then apply to the wood while it spins slow, after that I buff with a dry towel on high speed. But be carful not to burn the towel or wood then you will have to sand apply and buff again. This was a crochet hook handle so after it was cut off the lathe I installed the hook and finished with 6 or 7 coats of spray lacquer.
My first attempt at #ebonized #whiteoak using vinegar and steel wool. I had made the concoction a year ago for another project but the steel wool didn't seem to be breaking down fast enough ,so I wound up painting it black. Hear we are a year later and the scary looking brew worked like a charm! #ebonizedoak #stainedwood #vinegarandsteelwool #tanninsatwork #custommade #customfurniture #customwoodworking #handcrafted #coffeetable #urbansalvage #reclaimedwood #garryoak #oregonoak #madeintacoma #tacoma_wa #creatingfineartforliving (at Madera Fine Decorative Furnishings)
Nothing in this room cost us over $100. (aside from the electronics, obviously.)
