The Chicken Sandwich War
In this project, I take you straight to the front lines of the Chicken Sandwich War. There has been a major craze going on when it comes to chicken sandwiches. I investigated what it was all about. In this project, I even go to some of the top chicken sandwich fast-food chains to check it out for myself. This project was conducted on medium and used many multimedia elements. I used many of the skills we learn in Advanced Online Media. I took pictures of the sandwiches and edited them in photoshop. I also created a very esthetic header image at the top of the medium. In a medium, I included a nice article about the chicken sandwich craze. As you go down you will see embedded websites, youtube videos, and even a poll. I also did a story map of the restaurants I traveled to in Phoenix. These elements created a very fun multimedia piece. -Alexia Stanbridge
ASU Expansion
For my StoryMap, I decided to talk about Arizona State University. The university has a great history to it. It was once known as a major party school. However, over time, ASU's reputation has changed. Now ASU is a great university with lots of opportunities for professional experience. Michael Crow was a big part of making this happen. The school started with one campus. It fought to become a university. From there, ASU kept expanding and growing. Now we are considered one of the largest United States Universities. In this map, I take you through most of the ASU campuses. We look at what they are meant for and why they are different. I also included many videos and links. This gives the reader room to do more research and find out more. ASU is definitely a school worth studying. -Alexia Stanbridge
AZ Capitol Timeline
Like most of the West, Arizona does not have old cities. Native Americans lived in Arizona before pioneers moved out and Settled in the area. However, Phoenix was HOT! Arizona was only a territory at the time. The capital was first in Northern Arizona and moved around several times before ending in Phoenix. Before it landed in Phoenix, it went even further down and landed in Tucson. In this timeline, I take you through the Arizona Capitol history. I look at governors who were in office at the time. There, surprisingly is not a lot of documentation about the capital before it was in Phoenix. I think you will enjoy seeing images of the old capitol buildings. When researching, I found it interesting how long it took for Arizona to become a state. I also included a nice video of the Capitol that tells you a little more information about its history. -Alexia Stanbridge
Family of Six
We created two storyboards for class. The first one is about kindness, and the other was about anything we wanted. My kindness story is about me being stressed. I (like many people) always have a lot on my plate. This makes me so stressed, and sometimes I just need an extra person's help. In this storyboard, my neighbor offers to help me, and we get everything done. In my next storyboard, I look at how parents loosen their strictness with each child. I used the children in my family as an example of what could happen in the future. My sister and I have already graduated, but we have always been able to tell that our parents get less and less strict with each child. This was a fun assignment that pushed me to look for a story and be creative. -Alexia Stanbridge
Emergency Blue Light
For my 1st medium post, I did a story about campus safety and the blue boxes we see around the ASU campus. September was National Campus Safety Awareness Month. In this story, I explain what the blue lights are and what they are used for. I also give some background about what is expected for the future of these boxes. ASU has many resources to keep us safe on campus. However, I cannot say that it has not been a rocky past. ASU has had many rapes on campus property. I go further into this in my story on medium. The blue boxes are an innovative idea and help me feel safer on campus. I also included a nice gif that I created. I hope you enjoy this story, and I hope it makes you a little more educated on how to stay safe on campus. -Alexia Stanbridge
Blue
My visual story word was "blue." I found this word interesting because, other than the sky, flowers, and some birds, there is not a lot of blue in nature. So, I turned to the night lights and the city. The city gives off an electric blue feel. My photos are from Downtown Phoenix and Downtown Tempe. I looked for the blue in the night, and when I edited it, I tried to bring attention to this color. There are so many shades of blue, and I wanted to show these shades in my project. Sometimes you may consider these shades to be more of a purple or green, but I think that is the beauty of blue; you can find it in so many different colors. I picked music that would help highlight this electric blue feel. Next time you are walking around the city at night, look for the blue. -Alexia Stanbridge
The Churchill in Downtown
Click the link above! This gif is so fun! I feel like it is an advertisement for the Churchill right in Downtown Phoenix. The gif starts with a mixed image of Churchill and the city, but it is completely black and white. The next image is road lines that lead you to the Churchill. Next, everything lights up, and the filter with the natural colors from the lights of the night comes out. The natural color included a lot of pinks, which surprised me. The last image is blue. This is a slight reference to my upcoming project. My word is "blue," so I wanted to add a little bit of that at the end. I tinted the whole picture blue. Lastly, I made the gif very fast because I wanted it to feel electric with the lights and leading lines. I am super happy with how it turned out! -Alexia Stanbridge
