Let’s talk height. Personally, I can’t see him as short. Any of the other characters I can swing either way depending on how they feel vibe wise in a story, but my Stans are always at least 5’11 or so. Even on the rare occasion I’ve written a style fic where Kyle is the taller of the two (most of my Elf Kyles, the I Think I Love You series), Stan’s nearly up there with him in height. He just feels tall to me idk.

OrangeJuiceVerse Stan is around 6’2, didn’t hit his last growth spurt until junior year so he’s only a few inches taller than Kyle’s 5’7 in the first work in the series (fun fact Kyle was almost the tall one in the OJV but his vibes felt tiny but mighty and I think I made the right choice there). I have ENDLESS OJV Stan headStannons on here, a some of them pertaining to appearance. I’d link some but that’d take 80 years lmao sorry. And The Lightning Cracks The Sky smokejumper Stan is around the same size, 6’2ish and a little less soft because of his physically demanding job, I’m talking he is GORGEOUS and has a physicality that fills the room.

Now this is about to make you feral. The Webs In The Rafters universe Stan. Is 6 foot 4. I didn’t mention his height in that one, kept descriptions pretty vague in general other than Kenny describing him as looking like a Disney prince, but just know that’s my biggest Stan. He’s also in good shape from ranch work, some light padding for sure especially after the fall of the Haven, and bro is BUFF AS HELL!!! There’s this moment where he observes Kyle to be “alarmingly light, like he had hollow bones for flying”, and that’s not just because Kyle is physically fragile in that story, it’s also because Stan is INSANELY strong. Like, he could pick Kyle up with one arm strong. Arms and shoulders, welcome to the gun show motherfuckers! (TWITR gentle but fiercely protective Stan owns my soul)

It’s also worth noting that every one of my style AU’s, any degree of softness to musclebound, Kyle absolutely has a thing for his arms ;)

Oh definitely. I’m assuming we’re talkin OJV Staniel bc that’s my default, and his body responds pretty quickly when he wants to work on himself! He mighhhhtttt have had a slight annoying gym bro phase in early sobriety, recalling his high school athlete days and nutrition lectures from his coach lmao. He wants to build muscle? Get his body stronger as his mind heals? He knows how to do that. And no he does not have a problem getting enough protein on a vegetarian diet (veggie king Stan my beloved)

And he’s strongest both mentally and physically with a little a bit more padding, which comes pretty easily for him! Mans has a big appetite when he’s not in a depressive episode, so seeing him filled out is a good indicator that he’s doing okay, especially if he looks like he’s showered and isn’t wearing the sword earring.

Worth noting, btw, that he definitely has stretch marks on his hips and shoulders

I can definitely see that! It’s not uncommon for recovering addicts to pick up another, especially alcoholics starting to smoke. Every AA meeting I’ve been to, there’s a lot of smoking involved lol. And on the junk food note, SO real lmao. The person in my life who used to have a drinking problem developed a CRAZY sugar addiction in early sobriety. She told me that the body processes sugar in a lot the same way that it does alcohol, so that checks out for sure and I can totally see stan drinking a shit ton of soda lmao

And we know Stan in canon DEFINITELY has an addictive personality, not just the drinking, but also the whole arc in Freemium Isn’t Free is a good example.

I haven’t written a whole lot of OJV Stan’s early sobriety, but later timeline Staniel is my sober KING!!! His usual coping mechanism is moving his body, going outside, but it probably took him a while to find a distraction that works for him when he gets those urges. I explored that in a conversation with his sponsor in my second Bedtime Story, but it’s something I’d love to think about more!
